Never listened to this band before but this fucking rules

 

seems wild to me that someone can say this in 2022 but welcome aboard!

 

tbh I was not interested in them at all until I heard TBHC

 

this is the rare band that has done new things with each release and had it land

 

literally no duds. their closest to one is AM and it's one of the biggest radio rock albums of the last decade while being way better than the other shit on the radio at the time.

 

Hope we get some b-sides out of this era. Those are some of my favorite songs of theirs

 

I think AM's highs far outnumber its lows but like... not a fan of Arabella, Mad Sounds or No. 1 Party Anthem depending on the day - chop one of those, maybe even two, and throw on Stop the World (I Wanna Get Off With You), instantly improves the flow imo

 

lol probably my three favorites on the album

 

AM rules, don’t get why people aren’t as big on it.

 

I could live without "I Want It All" and "Fireside" but I at least like the rest.

it's been popping up for me after finishing The Car and I like that

 

i like AM and think its good but its the least unique and most homogenous

 

they never felt like a band who needed to chase that radio rock sound and got a lot of things right on that record but still, probably their least interesting one

 

I Want it All might be their worst song on an album imo, shockingly clunky and lifeless. the closer is also not particularly good, the only closer of theirs that isn't a discog highlight

 

I love "I Wanna Be Yours." I think it's cool how seamlessly the Clarke lyric folds into their sound.

 

the ones i dislike are the ones like knee socks and why do you only call me when you're high

i know they said they were influenced by drake on the album. why admit that.

 

weirdly the arrangement of "knee socks" is the part of AM that most signposts the future directions to me

 

Was just thinking about b-sides. Didn't they have a history of releasing them up until these last two LPs?

 

yeah they’ve released less and less with each cycle. last album we got only 1

 

there was one on the flip of the Tranquility Base single called Anyways!

 

I absolutely forgot that I own a physical copy of this haha

such a good one

 

relatedly most of their physical vinyl singles are really hard to get rn and I hate it

 

Anyways is honestly one of their best overall
