New Architects is like the McDonald’s of heavy music. You’ll hear it and it’ll be tasty to an extent, but doesn’t make you satisfied deep down.

Nasty riffs, but that’s about it. Basically Planet Fitness-core if you ask me. WWWY has the best chorus so far of all singles.

  3. Still not feeling any of this, but every Architects album is a grower. I will give it a chance on the release date!

more power to him if he feels comfortable wearing eyeliner but what does that even have to do with anything?

  7. deep fake is fine but it still doesn't give me confidence that this upcoming album is going to give us more than For Those That Wish to Exist leftovers. None of the singles are on the same level as those from the latter.

So when they touring with Puddle of Mud?..

Jk...but really not liking the direction. Hope it works out for them.

it's not the direction that's the problem, is that the song is sloppy and underwritten.

I'd prefer an entire album that sounds like this but good to a really heavy one.

The music is whatever... I'm not going to like a new Architects album given I wasn't even that keen when AOGHAU came out. So I mostly leave it alone and let other people enjoy it.

But this stuff is the epitome of awful, po-faced metalcore lyricism. I've just read the lyrics to the last three singles and it's all like this. Bland, unconnected metaphors strung together. No depth, nothing to draw you in.

Going out on a limb here and say Dan is kind of a simple guy and that’s reflected in his lyricism.

  13. hmm, on the fence about this one

His lyrics have never been very unique but they were at least denser, and still a bit better, in their heyday. So much of metalcore lyricism, while usually having a baseline level of cheesiness, has completely devolved.

if by "their heyday" you mean AOGHAU and earlier, those are all Tom

    u wut m8?

Almost everything they have released since Holy Hell seems so bland and phony. Holy Hell was SOOO good and the last record and these absolutely atrocious singles make me so sad.

I’ve heard Animals on rock radio next to songs like Duality and Chop Suey. this direction is making them even bigger

I believe everything prior to 'Daybreaker' was just Sam, obviously not including 'Nightmares' as he wasn't in the band at that point.

SUPER heavy and raw but enough melodic polish to fit with their new stuff. Seems like the best mix of recent and past work. If there’s a lot of stuff like this hiding on the record, I think folks are gonna be blown away.

  22. Yeah this is easily the best single so far. Like the previous ones, it's a continuation of the latest album but everything from the guitars, the hooks, and the production sprinkles is refined here. It really has a punch to it like "Black Lungs" had as the opening song last time. The solo was a pleasant surprise too.

    yeah this is really cool

that bridge is the most musically interesting thing they've done for a while tbh

  25. Finally a song I'm into from the record! Hopefully there's some stuff like this buried in the tracklisting. I really wasn't excited about this record (still am not expecting much) but this does make me a bit more hopeful.
