The best Architects song in years, for me personally.

Good doppelganger vocals. But I don't really think it's distinct enough to be a successful 'here's how to "insert band" name here'. I appreciate when people can knock off a bands sound while creating an actually new song. This is literally just a mash up of riffs that probably already exist in their songs.

It's cool though how someone was able to mimic what I thought was an extremely unique vocal sound.

  5. Surprised at how much I like this. Glad the chorus doesn't feel have the buttrockiness of the last album and feels more in line with bands like Young Guns or Holding Absence to my ears instead. The hook may also be one of their catchiest ever? Wonder if Jordan helped them write it.

This chorus is absurdly catchy. Very excited for what’s next.

Admittedly didn’t know about any of the band controversy but that’s far and away the best architects song in a long time. The screams are great and the chorus is wildly catchy.

Can’t turn this off. All the muddiness and overlayered synth/atmospheric stuff that plagued some of their worst impulses on the last few records is at its absolute best here. Propulsive, fierce and gorgeous.

I hope with everything that they do a whole record like this with Fish because this feels like everything they’ve been trying to get to, while remaining true to the sound that Holy Hell brought them to. It’s the best of all worlds.

Jordan's gotta be the secret sauce on that chorus. feel like this band has never had a decent chorus till now. Sounds like something off amo. (positive.) bummed to hear about the trans/homo-phobia. Forgot about the antivax stuff lol.

Hard disagree with this while "An Ordinary Extinction" exists.

Even if you don’t like this kind of music there’s no way the chorus to The Devil Is Near isn’t getting stuck in your head. So fuckin catchy

Just bought a ticket to see them in Philly. These dickheads better not make me Regret it with a shit setlist or shitty things said on stage

sam's heavier vocals are just so strange these days. he's struggling to deliver anything except lows and it's painful

That’s a bummer. I think back to how good he sounded on the FTTWTE orchestra record.

Maybe a new vocal coach would help. Whatever it is, I hope he doesn’t do a ton of damage to his voice trying to balance it all out.

Just looked up the setlist for this NA run and idk what I expected but I’m salty I’m seeing them lol. Hopefully the newer stuff wins me over live (not counting Seeing Red and Curse)

Must depend on the venue and curfew times? Odd that some shows are 16 songs, and others 18 - adding Nihilist and Gravedigger, which would've checked the box for both of those albums.

I'm going to the show in Silver Spring tonight.... curious how it goes.

Yeah I mean they sounded phenomenal and the new songs that I do enjoy were great but was pretty weird to not play anything off those albums. Feels calculated lol. Maybe I’m just salty.

    please report back!
