Melancholia Hymns is still one of my favorite albums of last year. The way this band can build up to these huge, soaring moments so effectively while still having both sections of crushing heaviness and subtle beauty is really something.

 

Just played this bad boy again. Album still rules.. they need to do a tour in America.

This sucks :( Somehow it feels like they were just getting started.

 

Dang that's a bummer.. it definitely seemed like they were gaining momentum. I doubt their tour will be extensive, but at least they ended on a really high note.

 

Definitely not saw this coming. The interviews around the latest album's era were so full of hope for the future of the band. I'm going to miss them so bad. I can't think of another band, besides Agent Fresco, who had such a distinct sound for their genre.

I'm usually decent at describing music but with Agent Fresco it's a bit of a struggle. Art rock with progressive elements, heavy parts that come out of nowhere (hence the similarity to Arcane Roots), baroque influences at times...?

If you're into Dredg, Kaddisfly, Tides Of Man, Karnivool, The Dear Hunter, there's a chance they will be up your alley.

 

I actually decided to check them out myself right before you commented... Dark Water was the first song I checked. This is PHENOMENAL. Thank you so much for mentioning them!! Right up my alley.

 

Yeah this sucks. Glad I got to see them live at Reading. In 2016.

This band's final EP is out now, and wow... it's really something. What a beautiful sendoff.

 

Anybody here heard of Rendezvous Point? Listening to their new album and I got some Arcane Roots vibes. I wanna play Melancholia now

 

I’ll check them out based on the comparison alone. Arcane Roots was insane.
