Yeah I think we need to remember that our forums here (and what we view on Twitter) can often be an echo chamber. The wider populous unfortunately will care more about going to the concert. And there's every chance that even with a band in this general big sphere of music, just as many fans will take the abuser's side as the victim's. Many more will have no clue about any of this. I mean every time this happens the Redditors etc seem to be like 95% on the side of the accused.
Yeah. It’s a bit depressing to see how our purported values and worldviews shift when the perpetrator is someone we like or whose art we enjoy. But it is an insight into how pervasive are the mindsets that allow/enable abuse and how we have to be deliberate and on top of our own baser instincts/wiring so we don’t find ourselves contributing to it.
contracts make dropping out of a big international tour the day before you travel difficult so fair dues to Feist for doing a good thing under strained circumstances
Yea I think people need to keep the eyes on the prize here, I’ve seen many people demonizing the other band members and openers. Contracts are tricky and people have families and crew to take care of. The abusive one here is Win. If anything future contracts need to be written up in a way that protects other artists/crew/venues from things like this happening so they aren’t bound to go along with it. Should be a breach of contract by Win.
courage and integrity to drop off a huge tour and lose out on money - good for Feist - buy one of her records today
US leg of the tour doesnt begin until mid October, right? I gotta imagine once the European leg ends they pull the plug.
