Personally, I'd put Pearl Jam and Radiohead in there not only due to the awesomeness of the live show but the ability to vary a setlist wildly from show to show
I’ve never been a lyrics guy. Meaning, bad lyrics typically aren’t the ultimate factor whether I like a song. I’m much more focused on hook, melody, arrangement, sound, whatever… when I listen to music. With that said, Empire IV lyrics are so insanely bad I can’t overcome it. lol. Absolutely embarrassing and total dog water.
many of the lyrics on the suburbs make me smh like especially “we used to wait” but the song is such a goddamn heater i’m like “yeah man we used to have to WAIT for THINGS” “end of the empire” is a slog with no reward
Win being a cornball is part of the cannon at this point. As corny as their lyrics are (and have always been) there’s never been a doubt about Win and Regines earnestness. Big part of their charm.
Well that’s a list for sure! They actually nail my top two but having multiple post-Suburbs songs way above Antichrist Television Blues is just silly
How is “We Used to Wait” so high. That song is such a dud. I mean it’s like a high schoolers essay comparing the post office to email. Also “Supersymmetry”, I thought everyone turned off Reflektor before that started. Bad list is bad.
Supersymmetry played while I was flying once. Hearing it while looking out on some clouds during sunset after a long/fun weekend was a sublime experience
We used to wait is so good. Some wild opinions in here. Certainly keeps it interesting though. It’s not one of those bands where everyone agrees on the discography ranking.
Top 5 Arcade Fire songs 1. Wake Up 2. Keep the Car Running 3. Sprawl II 4. Rebellion (Lies) 5. My Body Is a Cage
Also, this album is growing on me. Second half is definitely better than the first, and the title track is a real languid summer sundown beauty. The lyrics feel less obnoxious the more I listen to it.
