I am so freaking close to switching from Apple Music to Spotify. The queueing system is completely broken so every time I switch albums, it just goes back to playing the previous album after the first song. So annoying.

 

that's not the expected behavior. do you want help troubleshooting it?

 

That’s happened to me too but just closing the app/clearing the queue has taken care of it. Annoying but hasn’t been a big issue for me. Hopefully taken care of soon.

 

I've had a new iMac A4 sitting in it's box since Christmas morning. Going from a Late 2015 model.

But also dropping from 32 to 16 memory and 1 TB to 512 storage. My 1 TB is maxed out with only 39 free so I haven't wanted to deal with the moving stuff around... I might just go buy a new 2 TB HD and swap out the 512. Same for the memory. Is Apple still dumb about if you do the work yourself? Not really interesting in paying their fees for bigger storage options.

EDIT: Just researched and you haven't been able to upgrade mac's since 2019.... bs

 

Sonos added the ability to play lossless from Apple Music. Nice to see an update from them in the right direction for once.

Anyone have any good news app notifications they recommend? I’m looking for something without clickbate notifications and sends only 1-3 notifications a day based on whatever the big breaking news story is.

I feel like buzzfeed had a really good app for this back in the day, but I don’t think it’s around anymore. Apple News/CNN started sending too much or had clickbate being sent.

 

Just turn off all news app notifications - its the best!

 

This is the answer! Not a single news alert hits my phone these days. I still get newsletters but I get to read them when I want so I'm not constantly in this anxiety cycle.

 

I mean that’s kind of my goal. Since I’m not as online, I’m missing big stuff. I don’t want many alerts, just like 1 a day when a big event happens (plane crash, David Lynch dies, Beyoncé wins best album, etc)

 

Just save your fav news sites as bookmarks, and then when you feel in the mood for some news, just open up one of those sites. For me that’s the BBC

 

You could probably rely on email alerts in that case. Otherwise they're going to keep pushing further and further on what is "breaking news"

 

I will literally never use this but I'm sure some fucking family member will use it exclusively for communicating events.

Almost worse because I can do those from my shelter account. These come from my personal account. I wish I had a better way to gather RSVPs for shetler events than Facebook but it's the best option I have.

 

If I wanted to walk from one room to another and have the same music playing in each, what would be the best bet? A number of Sonos Eras?

 

I do this with a mix of HomePods and Apple TVs. It's a pretty reliable setup for me, though I know not everyone has the same experience with HomePods.
