Getting worried about my M1 Air. Last few weeks it'll basically become glitchy and nothing works (it still lets me restart through menu bar). i don't know how to describe it exactly. just that the open windows for any app gets all fucked up. happened twice this morning already. sigh.

As someone who purchased an M1 iPad Pro at release, it's held up incredibly well and i don't see myself needing a new one for years to come. I'm using it till it stops getting OS updates or the battery is toast, whichever comes first.

This is me. And honestly even the battery has held up a lot better than I expected it to by this point.

John Gruber had a good take on the iPad Pro imo - it’s like, no one needs a Porsche 911 GT3 to drive around the suburbs, but if I had the disposable income for it I’d sure as hell be buying one to do just that. Sometimes you just want the nicest possible version of a thing.

  5. got the 11" with the keyboard and pencil pro. Used it at my conference last week for note taking and course quizes and then also personally for lightroom editing, media, web browsing, etc. It doesn't feel more powerful or much faster than my A12x 12.9", but the screen and keyboard are 100% noticeable. Not sure if it's worth it (work provides my iPad) if you have an ipad within the last few gens but it's not *not* worth it either haha

Literally popping into this thread to ask if anyone else's COVID purchase MacBook Pro was showing extreme signs of slowing.

Like, I can plug in an external SSD and it can take more than a minute to mount. And it bums me out because I got 2013-2020 out of one laptop and now I'm only at 4 years and already looking for a new one.

  11. My wife's 2016 MacBook Pro is really starting to feel its age, but the keyboard has surprisingly had no issues.

We're saying that pandemic laptops being the ones before they switched to ARM? Because everything I've owned since the switch has been the best I've owned.

Excited for the password app. I was recently working on moving over to iCloud Passwords before my 1Password invoice came in and then it renewed so now I'm in limbo. What I need is a good way to keep all those things like passport info, drivers licenses, SSNs that isn't just a secure note in Notes.

I know, that's why I'm asking. So if anyone bought before late 2020, they ended up with Intel.

yea I have a 14” MBP now and tbh I really miss the form factor of my 13” 2016. Never had an issue with the keyboard and I miss the Touch Bar - it was the superior way to manage some things.

My personal 2014 MacBook Pro is still going strong, other than the battery life. I have no complaints about it, but bummed it no longer has security updates so I guess I'll throw Linux on it at some point.

My 2019 MacBook pro at work barely lasted me 3 years. Thing was a real piece of shit

haha I think the only other instance is when I said it on reddit months ago.

It obviously wasnt utilized well but it worked flawlessly, looked sharp, and for the few things I used it for regularly, it did very well. I particularly loved using screenshot shortcuts and seeing all the options for saving it on the bar. Was also slightly faster to find things that are now on the F key bar which all blend into each other. Also was nice for some precision adjusting in Logic.

I’m kind of surprised Apple doesn’t just give him a bunch of money to retire.
