why wouldn't you just buy them

 

in this economy?

 

Long story short, I neglected to unpair my Apple Watch from my old phone before I started setting up my 15. When I go into the watch app on either phone, I just get the pair new watch screen, but neither phone can recognize the watch. When I try, I have one phone on and the other off. I can do pretty much everything on my watch still, it is just not receiving texts and some of the things that comes with a fully synced or paired watch.

I am hesitant to reset the watch because I do not want to lose the Nike Run Club information. Is my only option to do a reset on the watch?

 

New iOS 17.1 beta, you now have a favourite icon on the now playing screen which will add to a “favourites playlist”. Sadly it automatically adds said song to your library, which is the complete opposite behaviour I want from a “favourites playlist”.

I have a smart playlist for songs I’ve “loved” and my biggest gripe with it, is it only includes songs added to my library and this does nothing to change that. Disappointing for me, I shall continue to wait for a decent implementation.

I do like that you can favourite from the Lock Screen though and they have also added suggested songs you can add to existing playlists should you wish to.

 

Why wouldn’t you want a fave in your library?

 

I like to have my library made up of complete albums I like, almost like a CD collection. But there’s loads of songs I love but they might be the only song on an album I like.

I like having them in my liked playlist but I don’t want a partial album in my library.

Is that weird?

 

Why not just add the single/song you love? I dunno, I have lots of stuff in my collection I like, but don't like every song, but can't think of a song I love that I wouldn't want in my collection. Never thought about it.

 

It’s a valid point, I probably overthink it when in reality I don’t often run through my albums view thinking “wait, I don’t like everything on that album”. Maybe just what I’m used to. Either way I do like the quality of life adjustments they are making to AM.

I do the same thing! way I see it, if there’s a playlist containing those songs, they are indeed in my collection because I know exactly where they are. Those are usually single songs by artists I don’t otherwise listen to, so I feel like having them in the library just muddies up the proper collection lol

 

Standby Mode is making me wish the iOS had a proper landscape mode. Kinda awkward opening the Music app from the widget and interacting with it sideways. Maybe I should just use Siri more lol.

Man my 16 inch 2019 MacBook at work is driving me nuts. 1-2 hours of battery life when watching someone screen share on Teams, Targus docks refuse to charge it half the time so I need to plug in my AC adapter at the same time, super heavy, IntelliJ eventually brings the system to a halt due to high memory usage.. still one year left on warranty before I can swap it out >_>

My coworkers were all able to get M2 MacBooks like a month or two after me, I just got super unlucky with our IT department haha

 

did ios 17.2 just throw all my apps into an "other" folder...

edit: this issue has thankfuly resolved itself.

preordered my fiance's phone and the purchase process through Apple did not give me the option to add AT&T's Next Up thing on the installment plan so that she can upgrade in 2 years vs 3

finally got around to calling AT&T and they said "nope, not our issue, you'll have to go to apple and return the phone and start the purchase process over"

 

like dude I'm *trying* to give your company an extra $6/month for 2 years

 

The fact that they make it 3 years instead of 2 is stupid now. I know the phones are more expensive but they should at least give the choice. When I worked at Best Buy 2 years ago whenever we sold AT&T devices you couldn’t buy the phone outright, you had to put at least a portion of it on installment plans. And then sometimes you’d have instances of people having already paid the phone off but they still had the monthly cost of the device come out afterwards too.

 

Yeah they’ve moved those installment plans around so much. Used to just be 1 year or 2 years.

 

Does the "add songs to to library" setting impact this?

 

No, thankfully not! That setting is still optional.

I submitted feedback requesting a similar option for favourites adding to library automatically.

 

@Sean Murphy Just got my Sheath case from Caudabe for my 15 Pro Max. Not sure I’m feeling it. It’s like the phone is popping out of the case and I can feel the outer edges of the case protruding outwards. Are the Sheath cases supposed to be like this?

I have the Synthesis case on my 14 Pro and it doesn’t feel like this at all.

 

I finally felt a finewoven in person and I gotta say I really like the way it feels. But there’s no way I’m paying that price for something that’s gonna go get beat up like that. I do like things showing wear sometimes so I actually don’t mind it looking beat up. Just not at that price.

I also got my son a 14 in standard size and it feels so good in my small hands. But I don’t think I could ever resist the pro max due to the camera and battery size. I can deal with a smaller screen but not at the expense of the other two things

 

Since I got my new iPhone my text alerts have been inconsistent while my phone is locked. If I’m wearing my watch I will get a haptic notification on the watch. My phone isn’t in focus/DND. In the notification settings I have the Lock Screen and sounds enabled for text alerts.

Is there a setting that I’m overlooking here?

edit: it also doesn’t matter if my phone is silenced or not. Some times I get the vibration for text alerts and some times I do not.
