Trying to resist the urge to install iOS 17 on my 14 Pro and wait for my delivery lol

want it to feel as fresh as possible

 

all I'll say is I spent 2 hours last night resuscitating my iPhone 13 Pro after installing iOS 17. It was blazing hot and wouldn't turn on, no matter what I pressed.

Plugging it into the Mac fixed it, thankfully, with all my files intact.

 

I wish I had seen this before I did it on a whim at work with no way to back it up or restore it. Everything was fine but fuck I would have been so mad lol.

 

Looks like I'm gonna be grabbing a Pro Max Natural Titanium! Finally joining the big phone club!

 

I am sure it was an outlier but I messaged my partner to wait for me just in case lol

also didn't need to restore, the Mac just downloaded a few megabytes large file and then the phone booted like nothing had happened. As in, nothing but the regular update. Super strange.

 

Just received the fine woven case in the mail. It feels fine, but I ordered the green one and it's so dark I'm not actually sure if the black one was placed in the box by mistake or the green one is just that dark

 

Phone has shipped.

 

Hannah ordered the mulberry one. It's being sent back. Both of us hate the texture and feel, but also don't think it'll stay clean or handle Oregon weather at all.

 

Phones, adaptor, Caudable case all shipped. Now we wait.

 

Looking for case recs for 15 pro max. Last few years just went for something clear and cheap. But I’m open to anything

 

@Sean Murphy personally recommends Caudable cases and if you don't like them he will refund your money himself.

 

I think I'll give the FineWoven case a go, but I may wind up in the market for a third party option for the first time basically since switching to iPhone.

 

Truly awful case. I think they way over thought trying to come up with a leather replacement vs just doing something different instead.

 

Agree, I have weird tactile issues with the way certain things feel, but that was next level "ew" ... just do a "vegan leather" or something.

 

Bummer to hear. The Connected lads hated it, too. I stuck with my 14 Pro Max this year but got myself a new case just to feel something.

 

I'm considering just going with a clear case again so that I can see the natural color of the phone

I keep considering going clear because of the natural titanium, but I always feel like they look cheap and I never like the feeling of them. Is Apple's OEM one any better than the usual?

 

I went with the clear otterbox symmetry. Don’t like how apple’s clear case is open at the bottom

 

Ah, didn't know it was open. That one's out for me, then. I like the full enclosure.

 

I am also unsure on what case to get. Have used Spigen cases in the past, but it seems like their price point has jumped and I didn't really like any of the ones I saw for the 15. I'd consider the FineWoven more, but those seem too pricy to me. I know you aren't supposed to do it, but if my new phone fits my current case, I might just keep that for a little bit until something speaks to me.

 

The biggest thing with the FineWoven cases to me doesn't even seem like the texture (which, I might change my mind with one in hand), but rather, the fact that it scratches to hell when you touch it with virtually anything.

 

Yeah I have the magsafe wallet one in taupe and I don’t like it much

 

I'm going caseless. Screw it. I'll have AC+ anyway. I'm super picky about cases and I usually don't go the third party route. I do love a good Bullstrap case though so maybe I'll get one of those when they actually start shipping them.
