  1. Viticci stated his demo was the most mind-blowing moment of his career. There is surely a hint of hyperbole in there lol but I trust his opinion more than most and I'm very excited to see this in person.

I’m very excited to see the reactions once it’s out in the wild, but I say with full confidence that there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell I ever drop $3.5K on it in this lifetime.

  3. I still havent bought airpod max’s bc of the price and id probably use them daily lol

AirPods Max became my first and only Apple purchase regret when they started shutting off randomly 2 months after the warranty ended. It’s definitely a head sensing issue of some kind and Apple said it would be a guaranteed $350 to repair them. I almost did it out of a sense of obligation having paid so much for them already, but instead they’ve sat in a drawer unused for over a year now, and my AirPods Pro 2 sound basically just as good so now I have no real reason to get them fixed.

Just updated to the TVos 17 Beta and already it's noticeably much snappier. I'm not sure how much I love there being 6 apps per row because all of the icons are smaller and poor eyesight me does not like that. However, moving things around and creating folder feels much simpler which I like.

Pricing aside, I’m shocked this thread isn’t salivating over the vision pro. I’ve never had interest in VR but some of the videos and reviews have me very intrigued. I admit there are still a lot of questions as to how it fits into our lives, both practically, socially, and philosophically, but I think this is the first truly jaw-dropping Apple product announcement I’ve seen and the implications for the future of media and productivity are immediate and awe-inspiring. I feel less shocked learning this is $3500 than I did learning the cost of the first iPads.

Gruber’s thoughts made it seem way more appealing than I initially imagined seeing the announcement

I'm pretty much where Drew is. In a few gens, the tech will be better, there will be a wider App Library, and costs will (hopefully?) come down to Earth.

As it stands? Impressive as Hell and I wouldn't mind testing one out at an Apple Store, but by no means do I need to own one.

For $3500 I’m buying the La Marzocco Micra machine and turning my kitchen into an espresso bar. Haha!

aside from movies, I think the idea of shedding external displays on your laptop for 5-6 virtual ones controlled with your eyes is incredible. Would’ve been worth every penny in grad school. Though I suppose that then turns into the virtual equivalent of having 50 tabs open.

I feel like a third gen Vision Pro has to be at least 5 years away.

I know it’s the nature of technology but I’d be pretty mad if I spent $3500 at five years later there’s already been two new versions of my technology

  17. I can't think of any non-obsolete product that isn't update multiple times in a five year span ....

For sure, just would be a little salty spending that money and then just wanting the update shortly after

  19. I’m just saying isn’t that literally everything you ever buy? Tv? Car? Phone? Computer? Toaster?

Of course. But it’s not every year that I’m willing to spend 3500 on something. Not saying most would but I have a hard enough time telling myself no to a new phone every year lol

I’m going to be direct with this story. My 30-minute demo with Vision Pro last week was the most mind-blowing moment of my 14-year career covering Apple and technology. I left the demo speechless, and it took me a few days to articulate how it felt. How I felt.

It’s not just that I was impressed by it, because obviously I was. It’s that, quite simply, I was part of the future for 30 minutes – I was in it – and then I had to take it off. And once you get a taste of the future, going back to the present feels…incomplete.
    Sounds like he liked it.

Anyone have any insight on monitor for a mac mini? Currently using a 32" 1080 tv that had been retired and it's pixelated as hell. Definitely not splurging for one of the 5k monitors, wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether if I can get away with 1440p or if I need to go 4k - I'd like to think I'm not super picky but I've been using a retina MBP since 2013 so I'm hoping to find the sweet spot between cheap and sharp.

samsung has a Mac-adjacent line of monitors. They just released the newest version this past week and discounted the previous one by 200. Both would work well and cost between 4-700 or so
