I have a meta quest 2 that I received as a gift and it was cool for 15 minutes and haven’t touched it since. There is just no applicable use right now that isn’t already done better by tech we already have.

Ah, that's maybe even dumber? I was just looking at the giant extension cord coming out of people's heads in all the photos of it.

 

This is undoubtedly an impressive piece of tech, but it just seems like such a lonely experience.

There is so much technical wizardry making it seem like you're engaging with someone else physically in the room with you, when I'm sure 90% of the time the conversation will go like, "Can you take that off while we're talking?"

 

That was exactly what I was thinking when it showed the other person walk in the room and try to talk to the model.

I thought the same, a bit wild! Tim apparently wanted these to be actual glasses like really badly (which in that scenario would make complete sense) but the vision of getting all that tech into glasses right now is decades away.
