Picked up an M2 Air in the midnight blue earlier today. Love it. Still setting it all up, but man, coming from a 2018 MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar and butterfly keyboard, this is a massive upgrade. I’m so happy

 

I think i am going to change my password manager from Lastpass to 1password. Latest hack and lack of disclosure from Lastpass have dissapointed me. Also it is the time for my renewal.

Although i hear the import function for 1password forces you to change all your passwords which is a bit of a pain!

 

I need to use a password manager so bad but I really don’t want to pay for it

Seconded. It’s worth the money. Been a 1Password user for years and I enjoy the peace of mind. I wasn’t a fan of the subscription model transition, but justified it by saying it’s like 3 takeout meals of the year for the subscription.

Note, I am keeping an eye on iCloud Keychain though. They keep adding more and more features every year. At some point, I may hop over to Apple’s solution.

 

If you were on lastpass I’d recommend changing them all as a matter of precaution to begin with.

 

So what happens when someone figures out the password to your password manager?? Never really researched it

 

Used my XMas money to upgrade my 12 mini to the 14 pro. It’s going to take a while for me to get used to having a bigger phone again lol. Was also glad I got the full trade in for it, wasn’t sure since there were quite a few nicks to the aluminum on the outside of the phone.

 

For Christmas I bought an ipad air 2022 to replace my 9.7” ipad pro that was going very badly.
I would like home screen ideas to start from 0 with the new one, as well as wallpaper ideas.

Fuck I’m stupid, is there anyway to recover access to accounts with 2FA if I can’t find some of my recovery codes? I had several set up with google Authenticator on my old phone and forgot.

Got the new Apple TV (w/ Ethernet) for Christmas. Hadn't even been using it a week and it went haywire last night. First, it stopped responding to my Harmony remote. Didn't think much of it, tried to re-pair it and picked up the Apple TV remote in the mean time. That would only work on the home menu, but would stop functioning in apps and settings.

Managed to check for a system update using my phone. It had one, so I installed it (I had automatic updates on, too.) No change. Used the phone to restart the device again. Same issues. Unplugged the device, waited a few minutes. Now my phone wouldn't control it either. Restarted the remote per Apple's directions. Home screen worked again, but nothing else. Unpaired the remote and re-paired it, per Apple's directions. Same deal. Unplugged the whole thing for an hour and came back to it. Phone worked again, but only on the home screen. Tried to use Siri to force a full hard factory reset, but it just spun forever. Back on the home screen, I tried opening various apps. They all crashed.

Unplugged again. Finally, my phone worked through the menu system and I was able to get to the System settings and do a full factory reset. It rebooted, but now it won't get past the country selection. Just sits on the blurred background screen for eternity. Ugh.

 

So my brother recorded a song for my song as a Christmas gift, and it's adorable. Is there a way I can get Apple Music to recognize it so it's on all of my devices and my wife can trigger it via Alexa whenever?

 

AFAIK Alexa can't play from your personal library, you'd have to bluetooth to it.

 

I've never heard of an Apple TV having so many issues before. Sorry you've had such a bad initial experience with it. I'd contact Apple since it's a new product. Even without AppleCare, you'd still have the normal warranty to get it fixed.

If you have iTunes Match it should upload your entire library and then you can access it on all devices with syncing turned on. I'm not sure if you can play it through Alexa if you have it set up to use your apple account then or not

 

I got it to work by making it a playlist in my Apple Music somehow? Idk, it’s just cute and fun to sooth him to so I was about it.

 

After the Southwest debacle of last week, definitely any checked bags you have when flying lol

 

Been throwing me for a loop. I have mostly Apple products, including older Apple TVs, and I've never had anything even close to this happen. Just the normal, run of the mill, widespread issues that they've taken care of.

 

I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Apple displays this year.

 

I wish you could customize the look of the shortcuts widget. They look soooooo ugly lol

 

My partners iphone 14 pro max just completely stopped working. She sat it on the table while we were eating and the screen just turned off and nothing will make the phone turn back on. Had a full charge, had never been dropped and is maybe like 2 months old tops. No idea what happened to it

 

Potentially a firmware crash - try to do a hard restart (press volume up press volume down then hold side button for 15-30 seconds)
