You probably already do but I'd recommend following all of their accounts on Mastodon and turning on notifications for @Ivory and @tapbots.

 

Mark Jardine has outdone himself with that Ivory icon.

 

Yeah, I like it too but he’s said it’s just one to hold us over until he’s happy with a mastodon illustration/render. It will remain as an alternative icon option if/when he does release one.

I’ve hated my Sony Bravia for the entire four years I’ve had it but I only recently decided to do something about it by buying a new Apple TV, and holy shit, why did it take me so long to do this?! The interface is SO smooth and setup was a breeze. I love the remote, too.

 

Weird little visual bug I’ve never noticed until now. You can see a small piece of the album artwork repeated in the upper left corner of the island lol

 

Does anyone have the 2021 or 2022 TV? If so do music album and personal movie libraries load artwork any faster?

My 2017 4K takes ages in terms of what I’d expect. Phone, iPad etc all load a lot faster. Granted they are newer but I’d not call it a big ask for the chips ability.

Oh I am not a fan of this new TV app UI. Massive add opposed to Up next at the top.. followed by the exact same medium sized ad just below.

 

Got a new 4K Apple TV w/ ethernet yesterday after finally dropping cable and this thing is sharp

 

I see this a lot with friends who come to me for TV recommendations. One of the questions they inevitably ask is "who has the best smart TV?" and my answer is always - none of them! They all suck for different reasons! Get a dedicated streamer, even a cheap Roku, you won't regret it.

I had consistent issues with audio sync on my Apple TV for years - they never played well with Denon receivers, for some reason. It finally was fixed at some point, and now I use it over my Roku. It's a great little system, for sure.

 

I fucking love my Shield TV. So responsive and versatile. I can play emulators on it, VPNs, AI 4K upscaling, etc

Lol forgot I was in the Apple thread for a second, I got distracted and just saw a comment about smart TVs. My bad for not talking about Apple TV

 

I like WebOS on my LG TV with the Magic Remote, but it's probably about on par with my old Apple TV (and I assume I'd like a newer Apple TV model more than both of those).

 

Don't ever put your Smart TV on the internet, those things have fuck all for security

 

Can you really trust anything these days?

Mine stared unblinking at the ceiling last night after we got in bed for like 2 minutes straight and meowed every time we waved in front of her eyes. Pretty sure there was some sort of spirit hovering over our bed or something..lol
