had to send in my m1 macbook pro for repairs and they didn't know how long it would take, needed a machine to work on in the meantime, picked up an iMac for super cheap used. almost loved it too much to get rid of it again ahaha

After waiting nearly a year for the new MacBook Air, I think I’ll be pulling the trigger on a 16gb RAM/512gb SSD tomorrow morning. Though, given the price hike, I’ve spent most of the evening agonizing over whether to just bite the bullet and spend the extra $300 on the base M1 14” Pro.

Coming from a mid 2014 15” MBP on its last leg. Would be my first Apple computer that isn’t a MBP (had a 2008 17” monster before this one.) I don’t really need the power of the Pro anymore, and I like the idea of a small, thin, and fan-less experience.

Also thought I’d settled on Midnight until I saw early impressions say it’s a fingerprint magnet.

Bought a silver M2 Air 16/256 config and the delay is only July 20-22. Better than I was assuming.

Someone please decide between the 16/512 M2 Air and the base 14" Pro for me. This is (self-inflicted) agony. They're too close in price.

 

Might as well spend a bit more money and get the 14” if you’re considering that as a viable option for yourself.

You could probably wait it out just a bit and snag one from Best Buy or Amazon at $200 off. They seem to put them on sale like once a month.

 

I'm sitting on $1050 in Apple gift cards for the express purpose of buying a new laptop, so, I'm stuck with their retail pricing. I originally planned to trade in my 2014 MBP along with the credit to make it real cheap (or free), but the values have tanked in just the last few months. Pretty hard to justify handing it over to them for $125.

I was getting pretty into the idea of the sleek, thin, light laptop, but when you just straight up compare specs side by side there really isn't that much of a difference between the Air and the Pro. Less than I would've anticipated, having only ever had Pros.

 

I agree with cryates. get the 14" Pro if you can spring for it. The Pro's display and speakers are worth the premium IMO. Plus the HDMI and SD ports (if you care about either). If weight is deciding factor, the Pro is 0.8lbs heavier than the Air.

 

If you’re deciding between those two, it’s always going to be worth going with the 14”, because that tells me weight/thickness isn’t a huge factor in your decision.

Someone like myself would just upgrade the Air spec a bit, even closer to the 14” price, because of heavy focus on the portability factor.

 

I thought they were saying the base pros performance is less than that of the air?

 

If I understood correctly, it still goes M1 Max > M1 Pro > M2 > M1.

 

I desperately need a new phone, the battery on my 11 has gotten so bad, but I’m holding out for the 14 models. Think I’m gonna get the Pro this year

 

The same thing happened to me, and when I was determined to buy the iPhone 14 in September, I went and lost (or was stolen) the iPhone 11.
So now for the premiere of an iphone 13, 6.1 "and 128 gb in blue color, the green was not.
Any recommendation for new wallpaper, home screen and cover?

 

Everywhere's saying the 16 public beta is out now but still only showing 15 for me...

I want to download the beta, but I also want my first experience with iOS 16 to be on my 14 Pro, so I’m gonna hold off lol

 

I used to install the betas but these days I just wait for the final release. It’s more satisfying than experiencing the features in their incomplete form.
