Not sure I noticed a mention or visual of it. Would be kind of wild if it didn't, imo

I wonder if services updates may come at a different time. Disappointed at the total lack of anything. Lock Screen stuff is vey cool though.

Didn't Apple do that with Dark Mode? Like iPhone had it one year before iPad, or Mac or something like that lol. Apple gonna Apple.

Oh don't get me wrong, I totally see that point. I've worked retail for 12 years selling iPads and Macbooks, so I get it. The nice thing about iPad OS is that it has been simple compared to Windows and Mac OS. That's why even my grandma can use it.

My impression after watching this WWDC is that iPad OS is continuing to grow more complex as they add in more features to make it function more as a desktop. I feel like it takes away from the user-friendly nature that make certain demographics gravitate to it in the first place. My mom, for instance, loathed the dock view they added a few years back.

My question isn't meant to be a criticism at all, just a general question and thought exercise to a group of people who probably know more about this than I do.

    Dock View?

I don't know, I feel like it is pretty easy for most users to ignore a lot of the power user features and continue to use the device as always. I often find my family members using archaic-as-fuck ways to get around their phone instead of the very intelligent and efficient ways Apple has come up with over the years. Even if those new things they've invented aren't even complex or involving some weird motion or shortcut thingy. Like my dad's home screen is totally insane with like 9 pages of garbage. I dont even think he uses most of that shit.

It’s probably overkill but it would be good if Apple offered a ‘simple’ OS mode which’s essentially the iPadOS that we have now and an ‘advanced’ OS mode that’s pretty much just the macOS.

  7. What's the famous quote, "If you see a "mode" someone fucked up?"

The advanced feature should be there for powerusers, but not get in the way for regular browsing. Demo looked like it was in that vein, but will have to wait and see how it works in implimentation.

Yea, they made the dock in iPad OS behave more like the dock in MacOS a few years back. It was one of those things that seemed like a tiny change to me, but was confusing to others. Hence my point.

You're probably right, though. Most of these things probably go right over people's heads unless they're looking for it. The demo today Craig showed off just stuck out to me because it was on an iPad...hooked up to an external display...using a mouse and keyboard.

Oh yeah I completely agree. It just seems weird how the gap is getting closer but the experience just isn’t there yet.

The apps themselves really need to show that as well. The Adobe Suite for example is abysmal on iPadOS.

Craigs demo also just seemed weird. If you have an external display and a mouse and keyboard for your iPad it just feels like you should be getting a device with macOS at that point.

  10. I would love for my iPad to be like 20% more usable as a "laptop replacement" and it's almost always when I need to quickly go between multiple apps. Curious to see if this helps with that.

  11. Do you have PowerToys? I use "FancyZones" to get my windows exactly how I want them

This has been part of my exact "sales pitch" at the Apple table for years. "You can do pretty much anything you need to do on a laptop using an iPad....you just can't really do more than one thing at a time."

Obviously that has become less and less true over time, but you catch my drift.

  13. Love the running changes in the fitness app! the multi-views, heart rate zones, custom workouts will be great for doing sprints/fartleks, and PRs on routes are all great.

Is that how the dock shows recent apps on the right part of it? Oh I guess I can see that being confusing for people being like “wait I didn’t put that here”.
That being said I don’t know where Apple will draw the line or their “endgame” (as if that makes sense…Apple will continue to alter and enhance their hardware & software in perpetuity as long as they exist, there’s not some day where it will just magically be “complete” forever) is for iPadOS.

  15. I'll know at the same time you do because then all that money will leave my Apple Cash card hahaha

I audibly woo’d when I saw the Polestar logo pop up during the CarPlay presentation.

Android Automotive is utter dog shit.

Finally sorting options in Apple Music. Playlist order, most recently added, album, artist, release date. Crazy that's new in 2022 but it's welcome!

You can also favourite artists for release notifications etc.

Does anyone have any experience buying somewhat older Apple products on eBay refurbished? I know some people in my family don't give a damn about the latest and greatest M1 nonsense, and just want a solid iMac or whatever.
There's some good prices on 2017 and later models that have 4K screens, 1TB storage, etc. They are all coming from sometimes even older hardware or some cheap Windows laptop.

The M2 Air came just at the right time as my 2015 pro display is failing more and more by the day.

Apple trade-in really stinks huh. I just got an M1 Air late last year and they're only offering ~470 for it. Was thinking about trying to trade it for the new M2 but not at that price
