LG has a very expensive one and there’s one from Aorus (also using an LG panel). LG is supposed to be making a 42” OLED panel to be released next year so naturally once other companies get their hands on it more will follow.

I’ve also seen people using their CX / C1 as well but like you said it’s a bit too big and no USB C.

Hopefully we get a new selection next year or maybe Apple will come out with a cheaper XDR display.

Yeah the Aorus is just a rebranded LG 48 haha

42 would be fine by me honestly.

Ended up returning the AirPods 3. I had them in my ears for the past week for 4-5 hours a day at least and couldn't get them to hurt any less. Bummed I'm missing out on this entire generation of AirPods and I just have to hope Apple makes a smaller design for the next generation.

New iPhone has been at a FedEx facility an hour away since Thursday and they keep saying they’ve tried to deliver it but I know they haven’t. Guess I’m gonna have to drive down there and get it

my issue with the pros isnt that they hurt, its that i think my ears are too big for any size of the earbud  i always have to be adjusting and pushing them back in. didnt ever have that issue with the original airpods.

yes, I do enjoy the occasional nightly game of pong haha

The screen operates with dimming zones, meaning individual pixels don't each have their own backlight, creating a haloing effect around them when next to pure black.

That's also why when you have a fully white page, you will see a gentle black shadow around the edges of your screen, as the dimming zones don't go all the way to the edges.

I still don't understand* why Apple doesn't go with an OLED screen, seeing how incredible the ones in the iPhone are.

    * I genuinely don't understand and I would love to know why, as I am sure they have their reasons. I've heard everything from burn-in to supply issues.

  17. probably because of cost and supply chain issues would be my guess

I think they wanted to go OLED but there’s a huge supply chain issue at the moment.

I do agree though that mini LED feels like a stop gap technology. Apple is rumoured to be offering customers in the future to have mini LED or OLED but it’s probably a while off yet.

Maybe they’ll skip it full stop and move onto QD OLED.

but even with all my annoyances, this is the second best damn computer I've ever owned.

the best, you ask, gingerly? The M1 MacBook Air.

I've listened to supposed experts suggest that mini-LED would be an "OLED killer" for years and always had my doubts. This is another case of it being anything but.

I do suspect, as you suggested, that supply chain issues in smaller, seldom produced sizes would create a huge problem and that's why they've opted not to implement that tech. I'm sure static burn-in is a concern, too, though it hasn't been much of an issue on the iPhones to date.
