I missed my MacBook delivery :( :( says it is on its way to a cvs for pickup. I thought I had my UPS shit set up so it wouldn’t require signature

I don't think you can bypass that for Apple products. I have a UPS My Choice account as well and for my new phone I couldn't figure out a way to bypass it since I wasn't going to be home so I just changed my delivery to a local UPS store

Yeah, and these days they charge you like $6 for redirecting to the UPS store like that. Absolute BS in my opinion. I could understand if they charged for changing to another private address, but to charge for redirecting to THEIR OWN LINE OF STORES is stupid.

Has anyone done any music production on the M1 air? I’m worried the new MBP may be overkill, but also considering doing a near-base model 14” for future proofing. Either that or getting the Air.

yes, I am using my M1 air mainly as a tool to cut demos.

But this comes with several caveats:

    - Except for Waves, almost no plugins or virtual instruments are compatible with Apple Silicon (i.e. Soundtoys, Native Instruments, Output)*

    - Except for Reaper and Logic, most DAWs are not yet compatible with the m1 natively, so they're being run through rosetta, leaving a lot of the performance gains on the table.*

    - Right now I am using Logic with only the plugins that come built in (which is enough for my current purposes). I am up to 18 tracks with about 5-6 Plugins each on my current project and it doesn't even make a dent. I have never had to enable low latency mode once. Bouncing this project takes less than 15 seconds.

so if your main purpose for buying an M1 is music production, the answer is: do not buy any M1 computer for music production.

(*plugins and DAWs work through Rosetta, but not natively. So if you run DAW of choice in Rosetta compatibility mode, you can also run your plugins, but it comes at the expense of performance)

Anyone have the new AirPods? Thoughts? Thinking of buying them for my partner as the only headphones she has are powerbeats pros and the corded apple ones.

weird. also weird that Justine's review touched on Davinci Resolve but never mentioned this for some reason.

unpopular opinion: your app shouldn't have that many menu bar items to begin with

People moaning about the notch not working with every app out the box at launch is wild.

that’s very disheartening, I use AmpliTube and Addictive Keys in logic. Seems like AmpliTube will run, though I don’t know if any performance suffers. I’ve always had an issue getting it to work properly in Logic already. Can’t find anything on AK.

Obv all this is just a matter of time.

but hey it’s been a year and Dropbox,Signal, Discord, Plex etc. are still running via Rosetta so don’t hold your breath on anything at this point.

    Sorry I missed this post.

they are fantastic. Sound great! Most people say they fit great. No reason not to get them.

I had the original AirPods and hated them - thought the sound was poor, fit was weird. They were relegated to my drawer for a long while until my girlfriend tried them and adopted them as her own.

I heard the Pros were a significant improvement so I took the plunge 18 months or so ago. Favorite headphones I've ever owned, period. They sound great, they fit great, the noise canceling is apparent but not overpowering, unlike some over-the-ears I've used in the past. Just all around awesome.
