Really wish I had a use case for one of those new MacBook Pros, but I'm struggling even to justify the computing power of my Air

 

really curious how the 14" model would deal with menu bars going under the notch.

the help with the additional search bar is probably one of my favorite features when using productivity apps.

I currently have a work M1 MacBook Pro so I haven't pulled the trigger just yet.

So very tempted though.

Not sure what year it is, but my job is letting me order a $2600 16" i7 32GB MacBook Pro and I'm excited after being on Windows for 6 years.

 

If they're willing to spend $2600 why not just get one of the new M1 Pro's?

 

Depends on the work. Some apps just aren’t compatible yet. If you work in audio for example it’d be foolish

 

Great question. I'm a software developer so anything should be fine as long as my IDE (IntelliJ) and Docker is supported. I don't order through Apple directly though, so I don't have an option. We have a company ordering page

 

Really don’t need the power of the new Pros, but I’ve always had one.

Currently trying to decide between a 14” Pro OR an Air and upgrade to my iPad Pro 12.9.

Pretty wild that I could get two powerful devices with multiple uses for about the same price as the one Pro.

 

I’m also a developer and having worked on an 2020 M1 maxed out for a few months (coming from Intel chips), it’s definitely more than enough. The fans have never come on once and I always have all three browsers open, multiple WebStorm windows, Figma and sometimes the Adobe Suite.

The new power from the M1 Pro and Max would definitely be overkill but I’d find that middle ground.

 

Dang couldn't get the employer to cop me a brand new one but I am getting a 2019/20 16", I'll take it
