  1. I use Things 3 and it basically runs my life at this point. I think it’s a fantastic app that works with my mental model for a task manager. Reminders has gotten a lot better lately, but Things just fits with what I want in an app of that type.

  2. Typing this from the new M1 Air, which I have so far used for 3 Zoom meetings this morning and is sitting pretty at 95% battery level

I have been using Todoist for 3 years. I like the simplicity of it. I primarily use it in work as an outlook add-in which is great. Main driver for me using it is it can be used over multiple platforms e.g. Apple/Windows. Also use it for personal stuff to. E.g. just simple stuff i need to every month is easy enough to input. I am tempted to try Things 3 just to see what it is like.

I used to love Things 3 but one area that had me return to Reminders was not being able to set location based reminders in Things 3. I haven't used it in a year or two. Is that something they have added back in? If so - I would maybe switch back!

I saw some of you talking about custom icons:

iOS 14.3 also makes it easier to set custom app icons thanks to the ability to run shortcuts from the Home screen without launching the Shortcuts app first.

  8. They haven’t, I use Reminders for those if I need them. Of course now I never go anywhere so :-/

So I'm kitting out my office and I need a new keyboard and mouse (space grey or black). I've been a big user of the Magic Keyboard and Mouse for years but it seems a mechanical keyboard and Logitech MX mouse seems to be the most popular combo. Would appreciate anyones thoughts on here.

Anyone know when the full review embargo for the AirPods Max is likely to lift? They're on sale in Aus today so it's annoying that we still haven't got anything more than unboxing and first impressions videos.

Logitech MX Master (first gen can be had for as low as 50 bucks) and any good mechanical, for example a Keychron V2:

Keychron K2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (Version 2)

and a nice large black mouse pad that spans most of your desk to round out the setup :)

Don't go down the rabbit hole of building your own mechanical keyboard. You'll end up building several and people will look at you differently when you tell them how much your keyboard cost to build. Sigh.

I did this earlier this year and went with the Apple products for both. Initially, I wanted to go with the Satechi keyboard given the price difference and positive reviews, but it was sold out at the time. I've been happy with both, but wish I had tested out a few mice before pulling the trigger on the apple one.

I got an MX Master Mouse and I can't imagine ever going back to a Magic Mouse. I have wanted to upgrade to the MX Keys but the price point is a little too high for my taste. I have the Logitech K380 keyboard and for around $30 it's hard to beat at that price point. I've used it for nearly 3 years now.

  19. Two days with the M1 Air, extremely happy with it so far. The incredible battery life and the gorgeous monitor are the biggest things for me right now (this is the first Retina Mac I've had). Also loving having Overcast running natively (not just the PodcastMenu app I used to use), automatic AirPod switching, and the general snappiness of everything.

Of course I also had to christen the new machine with a new wallpaper:

I have the K3 on pre-order and my heart jumps with every kickstarter update I get. my roommate builds custom boards and he's looking forward to seeing how the slimmer profile works.
