anyone looking for an update on my M1 Air's battery?

but as with anything price wise - if you speak with your wallet then change can happen. I mean Apple dropped the price on the HomePods after lukewarm sales.

 

how long are you using each day and how intensively?

I'm getting one sometime next year for sure, just curious.

 

I totally get why they killed the headphone jack but I'm a dinosaur and I'd prefer to have it. I don't feel like wired headphones are inconvenient and I probably won't consider AirPods until there's an iPhone with no jacks at all.

M1 macs on the other hand, hell yeah. I can't imagine I'll have any reason to upgrade my laptop until mine breaks but I'm looking forward to an M1 pro eventually.

 

I would probably have pre-ordered the Max headphones if the prices were close to 350-400 since that's close to what I've paid in the past for my wireless headphones.

 

For what it's worth, I 100% admit that I may fall head over heels for the AirPods Max once reviews hit (or I test my own).

But right now, I'm like - that price is crazy and that "case" sucks.

 

So it’s looking like no Apple TV refresh even with the rumors? Bought one for my mom for Christmas and know that I have the extended return time but probably won’t be till spring right?

 

I've mainly been using it for posting and watching twitch. 2-3 hours every day.

lots of dropbox and iCloud syncing happening too as well as opening every Sketch file I had because I was looking for something specific. unfortunately my usage history doesn't go back far enough but today I used it for... almost 4?

who fucking knows with apple haha - it's not a hero product so it could just drop without any notice any day similar to what happened today (and last winter too)

 

release candidate version of 14.3 released today - which makes sense since the new AirPods need 14.3 to function so expect that to drop this week or Monday - the most exciting thing is 14.3 brings Apple ProRAW to the Pro and Pro Max!

 

makes sense haha. I don’t think she would need the processing boost and it’s already 4K so that’s all she need since her old Roku is getting slow haha

Does Spotify work ok on these? I know you can't ask Siri to play music through Spotify, but assume airplay works and I can hope Spotify support comes in the future (who am i kidding). I have an Alexa Sonos, but am mulling over switching to HomePod once I start working homekit into my house.

 

yeah I'm sure you can use airplay to stream Spotify on the HomePods

 

you can send any/all audio to your HomePods, what you can not do is request songs from Spotify (etc) through Siri.

Same. $400 would've been an instant purchase for me. I couldn't justify ordering them for $550 though. Congrats to those who are ordering them though!

 

$500 for premium over ears is not outrageous on the face of it when you consider that’s what you’ll pay for higher end headphones from Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, B&O etc, I’m just not sure based on the information we’ve been given so far that the AirPods Max will have comparable sound quality.

It’s an interesting decision to target that market when they could have launched something for $350 to complete with the Sony and Bose offerings and sold a literal metric shit-tonne of units.

I see these being more of a niche product closer to the original HomePod than the AirPods in terms of sales. I know they’re selling out already but I’m not reading much into that since I think initial stock levels will be very low and a lot of people will order the first gen product to try it for curiosity’s sake and then return it within 14 days. Interestingly the only colour still available for shipping in December in Aus is the pink, so that tells you a bit about the demographic that’s buying them at the moment (not necessarily the demographic that will be buying them in 6 months’ time)
