  1. I think I remember from some of the tech pods when the 2s came out that said there was some kind of firmware update the AirPods needed that wasn’t able to be manually invoked but that sounds more like a HomePod thing. Bummer

Believe the “Announce Messages” option can also be found under “Siri and Search” in Settings. It might be worth unpairing and repairing the AirPods is that doesn’t help. Your phone also has to be running 13.2 I believe.

I’ve done that too. I double checked the model number and they’re A2031 which matches the 2nd Gen numbers. My phone is on 13.3.

I saw someone say they finally got it to show after charging the case to 100% so I’m trying that but otherwise idk what else to do.

Charging the case and AirPods to 100% and then repairing them to my phone worked.

Soooooo my air has been around for a minute and the space is basically shot. I don’t use my comps as much now that everything is either phone or various work comps so I wasn’t sure if getting a pro is just a waste or if I should stick with another air.

  7. Air with Retina display is gonna be a game changer for you IMO. No reason to go pro unless you’re a video editor or something like that.

I just want to make sure I use it enough to justify it. I’ve only had Mac laptops growing up so switching to a significantly cheaper PC laptop stresses me out lol

  9. I get that for sure. A couple years ago I switched my home work rig to a windows machine because it was 2.5x cheaper than the Mac counterpart and I wasn’t in a place to ignore that. I’ve really enjoyed it. Windows 10 is great.

  10. I now see David through a different lens with that last sentence. :)

Windows 10 is great until you try and run it on two monitors with different screen resolutions >_> it really messes up when dragging windows back and forth between screens. Windows 7 never had an issue with it, and people have been complaining about it on Win10 for years.

Ive loathed windows 10 anytime I’ve used it for work stuff

Work on a Windows 10 laptop for work... everything about it is so slow. I'm talking, brand new, touch screen IBM... with barely anything on it. Just maddening.

I will say that slowness is one issue I've never experienced on the various Windows 10 machines I've used. Even virtual machines that I'm connecting to over a 25mbps VPN at work are pretty darn smooth

I'm about ten minutes into using this new computer and it feels so much faster than the ones I've been using for the last few years. Things are just happening, no waiting. Using my work computer is going to be so frustrating now.

Does anyone ever have an issue with their AirPods just connecting while still in the case? Just got a new pair of second gen AirPods at Christmas and it's been annoying as hell. It never happened with my first gen at all.
I'm not on the latest firmware as far as I know (2A364) but can't seem to push the update after a couple days of trying. I cant even purposely reproduce the issue, it's just been random. Happens whether I'm connected to my car stereo/another BT speaker/listening from my phone speakers. If the AirPods are within range it'll just randomly connect and start playing through them for ~10 seconds and then disconnect.

They reconnect in my hands when I take them out of my ears a lot. Before I put them in the case. So usually I’ll get in the car from the gym and take them out, plug in the aux, and before I can put them in the case they reconnect. Its not that big a deal though because they go off once the case is closed. Never had them reconnect in the case

Yeah it's really strange. I actually just talked to support through iMessage and they're getting me replacements. Offered to just send them but I figure I'd enjoy a trip to the Apple store so I'm headed there Sunday! That was so easy.

This is really cool. I didn't start getting into Apple until after they decided to leave skeuomorphism behind, so it's really cool to see how iOS and macOS looked in the late 2000s

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

2009 is when I first started getting really into Apple products. It’s cool to look back and see the designs from then.

Speaking of retro Mac hardware, this was a pretty cool video. He got Bill Nye on lol
