Got AirPods Pro for Christmas - still getting used to the new fit after using the original AirPods for the last two years.

I don't think people have made a big deal about the sound quality - but I really notice a difference with music. I can hear little details I've never heard before on the old AirPods or in the car. Not an audiophile, but can definitely hear the various layers more.

Like as I'm writing this, I have '67 Cherry Red by Aaron West on, and just heard a horn part (sounds like French horn sort of) in the background during the second verse I've never heard.

After using my MacBook Air/Apple TV for Plex for 7 odd years, I’ve just sold my Air to my friend and used the money to buy an old 2012 Mini to use as a server - similar to your own set up. Love it. I enjoy the Plex App so much that I’ll even add stuff that’d on other streaming services just because I order the UI.

went with the sonos beam. thanks everybody. just didn’t seem like we’d get a ton of use out of the apple tv, for essentially just a better interface and cleaner apps. we’ve already gotten a good deal of use out of the beam, pairing it with our two Ones

@Jason Tate Did the 2 week trial for ReadKit after you mentioned it in here. Think I'll have to buy it now that my trial's up because I feel like I'll actually read the articles I have in Pocket when the number is staring me in the face every time I check RSS.

  5. Oh nice! Yeah, that's really the main reason I prefer it over Reeder. I like having all of my stuff to read in one place and in the same consistent format.

  6. Hah, I've done the same thing! It's just so much easier to find and play stuff. Not sure what I'd do without it.

Yeah I have Pocket pinned in Safari, but I seem to just keep saving and not reading haha. Definitely going to clean some of it out this week since I'm sure there are plenty of random things I can live without reading.

I’m not even sure a trackpad makes sense in the short term (with Apple kind of burying the functionality of it a bit), but I’ve been using the Brydge Pro for a month-ish now and it’s absolutely my favorite keyboard of the current offerings, which I’ve tried the Smart Keyboard Folio and Logitech Slim Folio as well, so I’m definitely excited about this. And sure, why not just get a Mac? Because I like iPad OS better for my needs in 2020 really.

Hey everyone, years ago my 2012 macbook pro was running slow so I replaced the hard drive and revived the whole machine. I now have an early 2015 macbook pro that is starting to run slow, I feel like someone told me its harder to replace the hard drives on the later machines? Is it still possible to do? Much better alternative for me rather then buy a new laptop obviously.

  12. Does the 2015 have an SSD or spinning drive in it? If it's already an SSD you probably won't see that much improvement.

Ah damn yeah, already an SSD drive.

  14. in the past the two things you could typically upgrade, the hard drive to an SSD and more/faster RAM, are now soldered on in the newer macbook pros so unfortunately you can maybe try backing up necessary documents and then doing a fresh install of OSX but that's about all you're able to do.

Took me awhile to try out the Brydge on my 11 inch Pro, but super happy that I did. Makes my 11inch iPad Pro feel more like the now discontinued 12 inch MacBook.

That said, for the price that Brydge is asking for the trackpad model, I would wait and see if Apple makes the trackpad functionality more than an accessibility feature in iPadOS 14.

I'm rocking a 2015 and haven't noticed any slowdown at all. This is still the best laptop I've ever owned. I do, however, do a fresh install of OS X every year or so, which may help. What's feeling slow to you?

Just while I do work from home and have a few tabs open and need to constantly switch between different tabs it seems very laggy, I think a new install of OS X is exactly what I need. Could you just link me to an easy step by step guide for how to do it. I think I've done it before

    Sure thing.

How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery

I would say if you're going to take the time to do this, go all the way. Back up all your files and then follow the steps in that link, including wiping the hard drive in step #2.

Awesome, thankfully all my important files from work are just on the google cloud so im not even too worried about the files on my actual laptop

Then you should be in good shape. Let us know if it feels any snappier when you're through.

  21. Do you use google drive sync? I feel like I’ve experienced insanely high resource hogging when using that - especially when I have it syncing multiple accounts

I have google chrome sync on if that's what you're asking. Is that different from google drive sync?

  23. It’s a menu bar app that syncs your drive content locally. Check activity monitor and see if that’s hogging system resources.
