Well it appears my airpod pros will be delivered to me tomorrow and not Thursday, so that's cool.

 

I got an email earlier that says mine will arrive tomorrow as well, but UPS isn’t showing anything yet.

 

I was waiting to buy it in-store, but the guy at my local Apple Store said it was coming out Friday, online only. I don't know how reliable that info is, since obviously it is already available online.

 

FWIW, I’ve seen reports of the Australian stores having stock.

 

Walked into the Apple store today and bought AirPods Pro off the shelf since the pair I ordered weren’t going to arrive before I went out of town, the store had tonnes of stock so there really seems to be no need to ‘pre-order’ anything anymore unless you don’t have a store nearby.

I haven’t really had time to play with them yet other than to check that they fit in my ears - they do, but not particularly snuggly despite the software telling me I had a secure seal, not sure how comfortable they’ll be long-term but unquestionably a significant upgrade on the previous version. From what I could tell in the brief time I spent trying them out the noise cancelling is pretty ‘natural’-sounding - sometimes I find noise cancelling gives you a whooshing/stuffy feeling in your ears, but I didn’t notice anything like that with the AirPods. I actually couldn’t even tell I had noise-cancelling enabled except that I couldn’t hear outside sound, then when you engage transparency mode voices suddenly come through crystal clear, which is really neat. Sound quality seemed good - way better than original AirPods, probably not as good as a high-end IEM which is to be expected. With the amount of features they’ve packed in I think the price is fair compared to the other products on the market, and I reckon most people are going to be very happy with these. Keen to give the noise cancelling a proper test on my flight tomorrow.

 

They’re available in store and they have demo areas set up for people to try them before buying

 

They definitely weren't there when I went this afternoon. Might be a Canada thing.

 

Official release is tomorrow though. It’s already tomorrow in some parts of the world.

The more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to just go grab a pair tomorrow since I have off of work. Hmm.

 

I work at 11 tomorrow so I'll leave earlier and go to the Apple Store.

 

Anyone know/think they will be available at places like Best Buy/target for store pickup? Wasn’t quick on the trigger to preorder online and don’t wanna wait to ship

 

HELL YEAH

 

It's been hit or miss with Apple stuff at launch, lately. When the new iPad came out last month, we didn't get any for almost two weeks. Of course, all that depends on the specific store and production, but I wouldn't count on Best Buy having them in store on launch day.

 

Just ordered AirPods Pro for store pickup today! So excited to get them on launch day.
