So I got the product red XR today. It’s so fucking beautiful I want to cry. I love the color red. Also this phone is an absolute treasure to use and I feel good for having saved a couple hundred bucks.

(I honestly don’t even notice the thicker bezel or the difference in screen quality tbh)

 

Another note on the XR: Call me crazy, but, I much prefer the wide-angle Portrait photos on the XR to the telephoto lens Portrait photos on the X/XS/XS Max. Also since it’s using the primary lens from the XS line, more light is captured so it’s more reliable in different lighting situations.

 

I get everything in red (and have a red iPhone 8) and people think it’s weird. Not the color, but that I choose it so consistently. Idk man it’s just better and nicer to look at.

Red is so good but I absolutely love the coral. I wish the XS came in more colors. Sure, I love my silver phone but c’mon.

 

This almost certainly has to do with anodization being easier on aluminum vs stainless steel.

 

For anyone who has an XR, Apple's official clear case is absolutely the best clear case I've ever seen.

 

thought of a feature I'd really love that would make discovery a little easier. at least for some of the smaller labels.

when you look up an album at the bottom it tells you the label/year it was released. when you tap on it, it looks like it would take you somewhere (similar to when you tap on the artist's name) but it does nothing. I wish that when you tapped on that area that it would take you to all of that label's releases. I'd personally use it a ton.

 

Rdio used to do this and I loved it and used it all the time.

 

Two of my friends have texted me within the hour both telling me they've upgraded their phones to the XR. Apple is doing pretty well, huh?

 

that’s awesome, I had no idea. from what I’ve heard about it, Rdio sounded like a great streaming service. bummer it’s gone.

 

My fiancé just traded in her 7 for a XR. Their trade in deal right now was too good to pass up

 

I miss Rdio so much, used to use it all the time in college in between classes.

 

I don’t shuffle things very often but I have a ‘released in 2018’ smart playlist playing right now and the shuffling is not great. feels like it’s the same few artists everytime, sometimes the same artist back to back. Apple Music needs smart shuffling or something.

I’d rather see the direct quotes from the Apple folks. The Verge loves to write a controversial headline these days.

 

i feel like i remember seeing stories of people saying their 6+ phones were "bending" as well when they were first debuted in that size.....i don't know if anything ever came of it.

 

The only way I see this mattering or being a story is if someone's iPad came "bent" and they took it in and weren't given a replacement.

 

i'm just picturing someone unwrapping an iPad pro that's shaped like a banana, and taking it to apple and having them be like "....this is normal."

 

Y’all, the XR has some seriously insane battery life in it. First phone I can recall actually being able to make it two full days comfortably. I typically throw my phone on a charger every night, but forgot last night and it’s been perfectly fine.

 

So just figured out the HomePod can play and pause my AppleTV. Thought I was going to have to mess around with shortcuts or something, but gave it a quick try and BOOM, playback resumed. Was literally speechless.

 

Got a Christmas bonus so buying the 12.9 Pro.

Has anyone used the smart folio keyboard case? Seems out of stock everywhere until January, so I'll probably get the regular case for now and then return it in the new year for the keyboard
