I have an aging pc desktop from 2012. Think it'd be worth it to drop $799 on the new Mac Mini? I already have an Apple keyboard I could use with it.

I just wanna be able to plan future drives around traffic trends like on waze. I switched from waze this week and I miss that feature the most. I could add every little thing I do into the calendar but that is such a clumsy workaround. It’s nice when it’s an important event I DO have in my calendar, though.

So, in the new iPad Pro, one of the things we’ve been wanting to get to for a long time is a sense that the product is not oriented in a primary and then, therefore, in a secondary way.

The first iPad had a very clear orientation which was portrait. It had the ability to be used in landscape, I think very well, but it was pretty clear how the product was designed. And I think with the first iPad you had the sense that it was a product made up of distinct and somewhat separate components.

What I think marks the new iPad Pro as particularly special is it doesn’t have an orientation. It has speakers all the way around the perimeter. By getting rid of the Home Button and developing Face ID, the tablet is able to work in all of these different orientations.

 

The battery life and standby time on the iPhone XR is unlike any other phone I’ve used. I have now used the phone for a full week and only recharged it once. And that included a fairly time intensive setup and transfer of data from my previous phone. Pretty awesome.

Not totally Apple relevant but given this is the only really active tech thread I’d like some advice about Black Friday, as i don’t usually partake:

as major retailers reveal their ads, do we expect them to offer even more on BF itself? Was looking at TVs this year and I see Best Buy has already discounted one I was looking at to the lowest price I’ve seen elsewhere (target’s bf ad, fwiw). It’s a Samsung, so I know not to expect super low prices like on lesser bands; any reason to wait and not pull the trigger now?

I hope as soon as possible. Been wanting to buy AirPods for a few months now, but I’ve decided to be patient and wait for these.

my guess by now would be they'd be released 1st or 2nd Q 2019, i would imagine to have them in stores for the holidays they would have been announced last week. Isn't there usually a Feb or March apple conference/workshop?

Haven't been able to decide which pro to get, the new one or 2017's. Worry is I won't use it enough to justify the cost of the newer one.
