I like the multiple email and browser apps! Haha. What is the one on the far right (not the app store)?

Nice! Did you just keep the Mailbox icon for Mail or do you secretly still have access to it? Hah. I've been beta testing Airmail and Polymail so I switch between them a lot. Chrome is for the accounts I have multiple of and don't want to keep signing in and out of on Safari basically now.

The app is called Franz. Heard about it from David Pierce's article on it at Wired. Combines messaging apps (right now I have messenger, slack, and telegram on it) so I downloaded it this week to check it out.

 

I got so used to the icon that I just kept it, it just looked right. It was one I ended up custom making anyway, and I haven't gotten around to changing it to a more generic inbox / envelope yet. I hope Spark ends up being my email client, I have high hopes for that one ... we'll see, though.

Oh nice, I heard about that app and didn't check it out yet. The only new app I had time to play with this week was "Talkshow" which is a pretty cool and interesting "public testing" app. I'm not sure how I'd use it yet, but there seem to be some really interesting applications for it — especially in our arena.

 

Ah makes sense. I have the beta for Spark on my phone, as well as the app store version. Can't wait to check out the Mac version My email client situation is very clearly up in the air, but right now Airmail has been the most solid for me as far as syncing between devices goes.

Also checked out Talkshow, seems like a very cool app. Not sure a ton of people would care what I have to say but seems like a cool community app.

 

Anybody else not been able to download anything from iTunes in the last 12 hours or so?

 

Does anyone make lightning iPhone speaker docks? They seem harder and harder to find, seems everything is Bluetooth now. I want a decent speaker ($150 range) that stays plugged into the wall that will change my phone and play music.

 

Seems to be some problem with certain iTunes podcast feeds right now. Can't download any episodes on some shows. Anyone else run into this? Very strange.

 

I looked for one a while back and came to the same conclusion. I instead decided get a dock (Elevation Dock) for beside my bed, and then put Bluetooth speaker kind of under it on the night stand. It hides and blends in well. I have heard this JBL one is a pretty good one for the price though. But I've never heard it.

 

Even that one says discontinued by manufacturer. I wonder why that is, I remember when the 30-pins were still out they were all over the place. I guess everyone is going Bluetooth?

 

it was a very sad day yesterday for me. My iPod Classic duded.... after a lot of browsing, reading reviews, looking at all my alternatives, I decided on the new fiio x1. I thought apple was going to be a safe haven for music collectors forever. I guess they gave up on us. At least the iTunes app still suites my needs. Nonetheless, moving on from the iPod was a bittersweet moment. That baby was with me through thick & thin (pun intended) ;)

 

Overcast tweeted that soundcloud issues are causing issues with podcasts hosted there, might extend to iTunes too.

 

Finally selling my hefty 2011 iMac to Gazelle cause I don't really want to move it again and I'm thinking about picking up a 10" iPad Pro. Anyone have one of these and do you like it? Dislike it?

My other option i'm weighing is just waiting awhile after i've settled into a new place and building a PC. Obviously I wouldn't use them for the same things but i sorta miss having an iPad that isn't slow and out of date.

Yeah I saw that this morning as well. Also realized it once I had more podcasts than usual download this morning hah. May have to consider switching my podcast feeds.

 

Really glad that podcast issue isn't on my end like I thought it was. I was really bummed that I couldn't get anything to download haha.

 

Another example why Soundcloud shouldn't be used for anything.

 

Anyone have any Safari extensions they recommend?

 

I think you'd dig cumulus.fm! Basically gives you a place to save music from YT, SC, Bandcamp, etc. all in one place. Does require an account, but let me know if you check it out. is there anyway i can easily save my apple music albums/playlists incase something goes wrong and i need to re-add all my saved music?

How does one make windows take up all the pixels of the damn screen?

(I installed Spectacle, which seems to help a bit, but there's always a few left).

 

Try Control + Command + F.

 

Maxed out my RAM to 32GB on my 2011 iMac today. Not really noticing much yet but haven't used PS today so can't really judge it yet. Still should be helpful jumping from 16.

 

Just upgraded from Mountain Lion to El Capitan on my Macbook Pro. Wasn't smooth by any means after the upgrade but after a restart and using it a bit its back up to speed.

 

Don't! Haha. Seriously. Big time Windows move. You'll be much happier getting away from that paradigm.

(But I'd look at Moom if you need to do Windows management.)
