The SIM-free version is usually later on after pre-orders though, right?

It still really bothers me that auto-correct capitalizes "it".

Great wallets. Probably would be a brand I'd currently sell if we hadn't started working with Secrid wallets. which are designed and manufactured in Holland. They're also RFID safe which is a big plus. If anyone is in the market, I always recommend them even if they don't buy through me.

  8. What is that gross plastic nub on these? I'd snap that shit off in a second. Heh. I don't want any moving parts on my wallet.

That's what you'd think! I've had zero returns where I work and the functionality of it is quite simple. It's intended for one handed use and is extremely quick to use. The mechanic you saw is moved with your pinkie and it pops your cards up so you can thumb through them, and then push them back down. The interior case is titanium I believe, and the leather on the outside holds up really well. I've bought two.

  10. Gross. It looks really bad. My wallet has two cards in it and this looks like a gimmicky monstrosity. I hate extra crap like this ... my wallet needs zero levers and or buttons. I've decided the ideal number of levers on my wallet is exactly zero.

(Also I don't wanna sit on a titanium block.)

This looks like a bad wallet. Sorry. The more I think about this, the more I hate it.

I promise you you're thinking pessimistically, and all of the criticisms you're giving me on it I've heard a million times. The "sitting on a hard wallet" thing doesn't happen, it's much slimmer than 80% of the wallets people take out in front of me when we talk about them. Not to mention you're never supposed to sit on one in the first place because it's been proven to cause sciatic nerve damage. There's no gimmick, and in fact a large portion of the wallet market are moving towards RFID safe wallets because of how advanced technology has become and how easy it is for people to commit fraud. You're focused on the switch when half the time, people don't even notice it at first and can't find it until I show them. I'm not arguing the point cause it's like I'm defensive, I'm saying the majority of people I've sold them on sounded just like you at first, and have since returned thanking me for the recommendation. Not to mention the quality of the leather/steel case and the price point for being made in it's home country, as opposed to being outsourced, which was the big selling point for me.

35 seconds into this you get a look at the function and how well they age.

  12. My wallet is two cards (so any metal box is gonna be thicker and worse) and rfid protection is pretty much a scam for most people. Neither of my cards have it (which is true for most people in the States).

Why you don't need an RFID-blocking wallet

I know me very well. I hate this wallet.

How is RFID safety a scam? And for "most people"? Like, it would either be for everyone or no one would it not? If it's not your style then I totally get that, but the quality is 100% there and it's been proven to myself by my customer base and personal use.

Edit: In fact, my one gripe about it is when I use it in front of people and then get asked a million questions about it.

  14. See the added edited links. It’s not in most credit cards people have.

  15. Standing firmly behind my it’s ugly and you don’t need a button to spit out your cards on your wallet stance. Over engineered is the same as bad design. And if you gotta flick switches to find a credit card you’re doing it wrong and probably have too many cards on you.

The only part of this article that registers to me is that yes, smartphones payments over time are very likely to kill the need to carry cards. But that's a long ways off. RFID protection is extremely relevant. Because you don't have the same type of cards that need this protection, you dismiss and shit on the entire concept. That doesn't make much sense to me.

Haha I know you're standing firmly, I'm pretty sure I've never seen you switch your stance on a first impression so I am not surprised sir. I think your missing the simplicity and it's far from over engineered. It can hold a maximum of 4 embossed or 6 flat cards, and it has two additional non protected holders for your license or whatever else. I love mine, and I didn't mean to create a big debate. I wouldn't recommend a product on here unless I have personally used it and loved it.

Lastly, I had my card information stolen and I don't use my card in any single shady looking atm or store. I still don't know how my info was stolen but that was enough motivation to make the jump. I also was a banker for four years and I helped people deal with fraud activity on their cards daily.

Because a very, very small group of people have these cards is why I dismiss it. Because it’s not a common threat is why I dismiss it. Because there’s no actual evidence it’s happening is why I dismiss it. And because I don’t need it is why I personally also dismiss it. It’s basicslly an upsell for something no one really needs in the US because it’s not actually a threat to them. But scaring people makes them spend money on shit they don’t need.

Do You Really Need an RFID-Blocking Wallet?

  20. But you have to actually have a rfid card for that to happen. Does your card have tap to pay on it? Hardly any in the US do. I don’t think a single big bank offers it anymore. Chase dropped it in 2014. Wells Fargo before that. BofA doesn’t have it. Only select specific visa and MasterCards do. And they’re very unpopular. Or does it have a chip like the overwhelming majority. (Your card was probably grabbed from an online purchase like most stolen cards.)

It wasn't online, and it was with a Wells Fargo credit card which was a bank I briefly worked for in 2012 when I moved to PA.

  22. (Also if a skimmer is on an atm no way is it gonna be in the shady looking part of town and all the wallets in the world wouldn’t protect from that.)

Even dropping the RFID case, the wallet is amazing and I love being able to quickly pull my card out at a countertop without having to fight to struggle to get a card out like I used to, nor do I have to open my wallet to reveal cash or whatever else I have inside that someone behind me could see and decide to jump me for.

But I bet you have an article from somebody saying "Not a single case has been brought to my personal attention, therefore there is no danger in somebody at a gas station seeing what you have in your wallet." ;)

Wells Fargo doesn’t have RFID cards... they’re chip and pin.

  25. What the hell are you doing at a gas station flashing money around? lol. Or what do you think my wallet looks like? It’s got two cards in two slots. Open, pick a credit card or my drivers licence out. It takes zero time. It could not be easier.

If someone is close to you at a gas station that they can see what’s in my wallet they’re already too close to me ...
