That’s distressing. I love the keyboard, the clicks are music to my ears.

I'm interested in going through the iPhone upgrade program (first timer), and when trying to enroll, I get:

"To join the iPhone Upgrade Program with T-Mobile, and get an iPhone 8, you’ll need to visit an Apple Store and check in with a Specialist. Or you can join the program in-store and get an iPhone X once it becomes available on November 3."

Is there a way to just go ahead and get enrolled so I can pre-order the X at midnight, instead of having to go in-store that day?

I was able to do it all online with Verizon

May have misinterpreted the wording on that last sentence. Will just stop by later today to see if I can get enrolled and ready for next week. Tried to go through the process with the T-Mobile app (which is how they recommended ordering), and it wouldn't let me add anything to my cart. Doesn't give me a lot of faith there.

That was supposed to be an iOS 11 feature but they abandoned it (from what I can tell) halfway through the beta testing.

  10. I bet it’ll be an 11.2 or 11.3 type of update

Yeah, it was definitely in beta 1 at least. I remember setting it up on my iPad. Such a great feature. Hope it comes back soon.

Got my Series 3 watch. So far the cellular connection is going just fine with no problems. Trying to patiently wait for the streaming music release is going to suck though.

  15. So those who have and use apple music, how do you all manage your library?

I think I am having a hard time transitioning from the pirating days to this new streaming future. Right now, I am downloading albums from private trackers, adding them to my library which is stored on an external hard drive, syncing that to my apple music icloud library, and then I have a backup copy of my library on google drive as well.

Is it even necessary for me to be downloading albums from trackers that are also on apple music that I can simply add to my library and download as needed? Are there any concerns over DRM or bit rate for apple music? I mostly stream music to my car stereo or airpods so I know mp3@320 vs AAC is nearly moot at that point.

I guess I just want someone to ease my fears of going 100% streaming/apple music based

I mean it's just simply easier to use Apple Music, or any other streaming service, vs downloading illegally in 2017. For only $10/mo you can get access to nearly everything you would be looking for. Any existing music you have could be uploaded to the iCloud Music Library through iTunes so it's not like you'd have to start over with your library. To be honest, when unlimited streaming is only $10/mo it makes absolutely no senses to pirate music anymore, with the small exception of wanting to hear an album that leaks early, but even that doesn't happen much these days.

  17. oh yeah, i already have apple music now (i still have my old university email address so I pay $4.99) but I guess I'm just using a hybrid of downloading my music (almost exclusively leaks at this point like you said) and then using apple music for syncing my library across all devices.

once you add an album to your library, do you download it to keep locally on your laptop or external hard drive or are you 100% streaming at this point?

I'm 100% streaming. If I'm listening to music it's either off my phone, or a mac mini. If I do download an album from them it's in emergencies and I usually delete it straight away. I don't need to keep it locally tbh, I have constant access

For stuff that's not on a streaming service, I download, upload to said streaming service then delete the local files.

i've gone through the process of replacing a lot of my old music with the apple music "approved" files just so syncing and tags work better.

i don't download anything to my computer but i have a portion of my library downloaded on my phone

I would just delete all your illegally downloaded tracks and start fresh with apple music.

is it still a pain to get lossless files onto your ICLOUD music library?

  24. To play from an iOS device is not great. But, I don't know why anyone would do that anyway.
