Glass on glass is objectively bad.

i love liquid glass in general, but am shocked they shipped (and continue to not fix) the glaring visibility/usability problems - text over text, indiscriminate borders between windows, etc.

A few days with this beta and I honestly think it has been better than any iOS 26 release for me. I’ve definitely had a couple minor bugs, and a couple nights ago it randomly struggled for a few minutes before settling down, but otherwise it has been fast and stable. Obviously, install at your own risk! (And there’s no guarantee the next beta release won’t break things.)

Still on the waitlist for the new Siri.

edit: I think it's because my phone started indexing 24 hours after I installed the beta and it's still ongoing, but my phone has started slowing down quite a bit recently. It'll be fine, very fast and working perfectly, and then suddenly it starts getting warm and unusably laggy.

Whoa, I missed that Safari can vibe code extensions now. Super cool.

Dumb example: “change all images to a dog and replace some text with ‘bark’”

  7. Oh yeah liquid glass is getting much better suddenly, starting to get most of my apps updated and it’s an improvement on all of them

This beta is great. It feels like what 26 should've felt like - fast, zippy, clean. New Siri is genuinely useful too. No complaints at all so far.

Yeah, it's stupid stable, battery life is where it was with 26.5.1. I have some mDNSResponder crashes on my Mac when it's asleep but if I close the lid it's fine

Got the new Siri yesterday. So far it has been very useful for finding old text messages where I remembered the substance of the conversation but not specific words. Also works well for calendar events. It has been messing up very basic tasks that old Siri didn’t struggle with (“start album over” just plays the last song, for example) or just fails to do anything at all.

I could care less about AI integration. I have never used chatGPT and have had Siri disabled for years. Still riding the high of all the IOS updates from 26.

I’m seeing rumors that the iPhone 18 Pro may start at $1300

A second hand 17 Pro is starting to sound pretty nice. I would wait for the 20th anniversary phone but my 128GB 14 Pro is full. Maybe I’ll just go with a 256GB 14 Pro for a year

I had half a thought to upgrade again this year before any possible price increases but my 16 Pro is just fine.

I’ve seen rumors of a red color variant and that might push me to make reckless decisions.

my 17 pro is the first phone I’ve gone ceaseless for and I have paid a steep price for doing so, the screen is busted up. Does anybody know if replacing the screen affects trade-in value to retailers (e.g. Verizon)?

It doesn't, if anything it increases it.

How worth it are the AirPods Max to anyone who has had them for a while? Pretty steep sale going on for prime day.

I have a pair of the USB-C that I use for calls and longer flights. I don't mind them but they're not my favorite ever.

Congrats! I've been holding off for years now since we own two 2018 Apple TV 4K's and Apple hasn't released a new model since 2022. It's pretty much a guarantee we're getting new ones soon, but they held off on that and HomePod Mini updates until Siri AI was ready. They're connected to Roku TV's, but I'm about to disconnect the Wi-Fi from the Roku for good since Fox bought them. I already didn't trust Roku before, but now even moreso.

The biggest QOL improvement I've had lately is switching from the standard Plex app to Infuse. I'm likely going to pay for the $100 lifetime upgrade soon, as it can handle any 4K Dolby Vision, Atmos, AV1, etc... content I throw at it with ease. The regular Plex app hasn't been updated in over a year, and I've been testing the atrocious TestFlight beta that is a significant downgrade in both UI and performance. I hope someone else comes along with a better server solution soon, as Jellyfin and Emmy both are not good enough for me, and Plex mainly focuses on their free Ad-supported crap these days.

    /end rant :crylaugh:

I MAC blocked my Roku TV long ago, just do it now.

I have an issue with Infuse where it won't play all my files I have on my iCloud Drive. Keeps producing a bug that no one seems to know how to resolve. Otherwise, fine app where sometimes I have to workaround that and download through Files and open in Infuse.

Have had apple tv's for a while now in the living room/bedroom, gf teased me a bit when we first started dating about how much they cost. After moving in together and showing her how everything worked, she is a true believer. We hate having to use the Roku tv in our daughter's room and plan to upgrade one of the other ATV's we already have to pass along to her room when they come out with new generation
