huh, Siri has an app now. I guess that's their way of having an "AI" app without it seeming too gross.
holy cow that was a nothing burger. props to them for stretching out maybe 25 minutes of info into over an hour.
Yeah, that was a waste of an hour plus. At least it's a slow work day. Honestly not sure I'll install these betas. I usually do and will probably give in but this was lame.
it's a snow leopard type update (which they needed) and I would assume all the focus went into getting this Siri ai thing correct since it failed to ship two years ago
Dropping support of a lot of Apple Watch models, including those that are just 3.5 years old, is a bit crazy.
I will not be getting an iPhone Ultra (or whatever the foldable will be named) but I guess that will be something of a big software moment as that OS will be a fusion of sorts between the iPhone and iPad operating systems. On one hand I like that they aren't introducing any big new features and just making all of the existing stuff work a whole lot better (we will have to wait and see if it will in the long term) and adding lots of smaller useful features and making the UI more legible and spatially coherent. On the other, it is hard to get excited about the platform when it feels like virtually nothing was announced today.
Shows what a different world we're in now and what a different company they are. I remember when the Snow Leopard announcement happened and people appluaded it being almost all stability.
it is a different world, however I'd like to watch that keynote versus this. this keynote had that trippy Golden Gate animation sequence at the beginning and so on. those old keynotes themselves were far more barebones and simple presentations, now Apple feels the need to make these pretty little movies each time at WWDC and iPhone launches. I mean I think it's cool sometimes, but this style backfired this time IMO. Apple feels the need now to make WWDC a big thing - even if they do not have a big thing to present. WatchOS 27 dropping support for Series 9 and Ultra 1 is crazy work, though. I continue to look at the Apple Watch and think "hmmm maybe this year" and then look at the dozens of other things I'd rather spend money on.
I like mine and have largely been on a 3-4 year upgrade cycle. Not sure if this is going to kick me out of it or not because it kind of sucks.
“Search within shows” as a noted upgrade for Podcasts seems wild. (Long over due for sure but hardly new) Curious what smart downloads on TvOS is. Doesn’t look like there was enough of an update for a landing page this year. Largely Siri and AI focussed which was expected, hopefully the tightening of general performance is good though!
