my last MacBook was an early 2015 MBP so any update 11 years later was probably going to suit me, but the neo fuckin rules so far. any knocks against the screen are lost on me bc (to my eyes anyway) it shits on my last one lol. I am definitely going to have to get used to no backlit keyboard, especially in a room with subpar lighting, but that's really the only thing that's got me like "aw man" so far, ha. wish they could have made the keys contrast a little better with the numbers/letters on the indigo but it's a pretty minor gripe I'd say.

Any time! I really should publish some more of my Raycast additions and extensions. I recently added folders to the gif extension so I could better organize my most used gifs. You know, important things. And I added Last.fm counts last month: Getting Last.fm Counts in Raycast I think this has to be my most used "app" at this point ... I use it for so many things now that have become basically embedded in how I use a computer. Clipboard, text expander snippits, bookmarks, searching, it's ... so good.
oh folders is a great idea. how'd you accomplish that? and i second your opinion. raycast is by far my most used app. i never thought something would top alfred but raycast is so good it's not even close anymore in my opinion.
For those of you who take handwritten notes on an iPad - do you use the stock Notes app or do you use something else? I'm toying around with it again.
For awhile I used Goodnotes, but then I started using Freeform last year and really liked it. I like the infinite canvas aspect, and love being able to drop in different types of media, links, etc. while i'm on calls because I can have it open on my desktop and ipad. Although I have been looking for something with the core features of freeform but that has more options for formatting, organization, etc. Sometimes freeform can be a little too chaotic if you aren't careful. They have a scenes feature that tries to manage it, but I don't find that it works that well for me. Would love to hear of alternatives if anyone has any to share.
I'll see about publishing the full extension. Basically, I downloaded the one from the raycast gihub and vibe coded it - tossed it at Codex and said "give me folders" and then added a feature to put some manual gifs in iCloud drive and sync between my laptop / desktop.
Yeah it can get a little crazy. They are adding folder support soon so that will help, but the boards themselves can get chaotic fast if you aren't careful.
I’m almost certainly getting a Neo, but I can’t decide on Silver or Indigo. Silver is classic but @shea how is the Indigo. I’m mostly concerned about fingerprints. Can’t stand the fingerprints a space gray/black leaves behind. Wife wants a Citrus.
Anyone else have a weird reoccurring bug where every now and then (maybe once every few weeks), Thunderbolt docking stations will not recognize your MacBook until opening the lid when plugging it in for the first time? M4 MBP here. It's not even just a display handshake issue - the LED lights on my wired mouse don't even turn on when this happens, so shaking the mouse or typing on my keyboard don't wake it from a sleep. I swap between my work M3 and personal M4 constantly, so it gets unplugged often. Turning the dock off/on doesn't fix it, either. Just slightly annoying because I slide my laptop into a vertical stand so I have to physically pick it up just to open the clamshell
There are a fair amount but I remarked to myself as I was leaving work about how clean it still looks after 2 days of being handled pretty frequently. This looks way worse in the photo than it does in real life..but the computer itself also looks silver here and I’m not a great photographer so idk lol
@Jason Tate (and others definitely) I believe you will relate to this write up a ton “This Is Not The Computer For You” · Sam Henri Gold
Going to check out the Neo today. I am pretty settled that I do not need it and will keep riding with the m4 pro as my main computer, but I am just excited to see the colors and tinker around with it.
