I've been out of the loop on Apple Music replacement apps for the Mac...are there any? The current app is awful.
you're also less locked-out by the Mac OS than you are iPad OS. unless you really care about the chipset in the iPad or have more casual/tactile use cases, you can do more with the Mac
I’m not the target audience for the neo but I was curious to see what it’d be like as I was considering a laptop for work (just medical records, nothing intensive). at the price point the most sensible (and sustainable) solution, at least for me personally, is a used m2 air. That said, a vast majority of people will be happy with the neo. Unrelated, but I really wish Apple would give iPads and non-pro MacBooks some more non-pastel-y color options outside of silver and whatever they’re calling dark blue at that time. Indigo and midnight look great but these announcements always feel like Easter commercials.
I'm happy to be able to tell people who want a new computer that they can easily get a $499 Mac that will do almost everything that people need. The price points have always been the barrier when I recommended it, now there are no excuses. This week confirmed to me that I'm not going to buy any iPad in the near future and really don't see them as any sort of replacement for a computer (for me). I'll get the batteries replaced in my iPad Pro and Air that are here for both of us and they're going to last a very long time. Maybe not the Air if I think it'll lose support in the near future.
Mannnn I might trade my mini for the Neo. I thought I was going to be okay with a desktop but I miss the portability of a laptop a lot.
I did the same thing last year. Had the M4 Mini but missed being able to be portable. Got the M4 Macbook Pro that is great. I also held onto my M4 Mini and because of the openclaw explosion I am selling it this weekend for almost as much as I paid for it over a year later. Lucked out!
Almost nothing? Haha. Essentially streaming things via AirPlay to my Apple TV and web browsing. Also occasionally pulling photos off an SD card from my Ricoh camera. This is why I hate the 15” size because I don’t really need it.
You can always offload to the cloud or get an external drive but keep that in mind if you're pulling photos off a camera.
You can get the base mini pretty easily, but the next step up in memory and storage (which is the one I have) is backordered for 5-6 weeks on apple's site.
M3 I think? Maybe even M4 Apple would give me $770 for it. I've also thought so many times about doing the iPad+Keyboard thing and this would scratch that itch in an interesting way.
Yeah, I'd probably go with the 512GB model with Touch ID too. I actually just pull the photos off the camera and add them to my iCloud library. I shoot JPEG SOOC with some film simulation stuff on my Ricoh, so I'm not editing photos or dealing with large RAW files.
Wasn’t expecting like $500+ or anything but $290 trade value on a barely 14 month old computer is a real bummer lol
My wife has the white keyboard for her iPad, and I will say that removing backlight from the keys, but making the keycaps lightly colored, is pretty smart. It will actually help negate the lack of backlight in a lot of lighting situations. in direct light her backlit keys (white on white) actually can be problematic for seeing the characters.
