Been really enjoying movies on the M4. Trying to do less scrolling, more reading / movies. Our Disney plus is the deal one with ads, would love to run through Star Wars clone wars and rebels and maybe revisiting a couple of the live action shows next year when we bump up. The color contrast and deep inky blacks have not gotten old. Such a treat.
Of course they're going to fuck up the Apple Maps app right after I finally switched over from using Google Maps full-time. The ads were part of the reason I switched. Here's to hoping the Magic Block ad-blocking for apps works on this and doesn't leave weird gaps all over the UI. This sucks.
ffs. how much money do these corps need?? they hardly/don't pay taxes as is and keep raising prices on shit--I guess they have to gain back all that money they've given Trump
M5 MacBook Pro's SSD is 2.5x faster on average than last-gen M4, exceeding Apple's own claims — M5 achieves 6,000+ MB/s across both read and write speeds
I always have to remind myself when these articles get released that the average Mac user's workload needs - including my own - would be more than fine on a 2-3 year old MacBook. But damnit if these reviews don't make me at least add one to a cart to see what the damage would be to my bank account.
I know I'm crazy but I'm 100% confident Microsoft changed the command for Find in Excel from CMD-F to CTRL-F.
Finally got Tahoe at work and I visually don't see what's different other than the corners of windows, the menus when right clicking things, and spotlight Liquid glass has not changed how my icons look at all, other than the Finder, Preview, and Settings apps? Whether I choose clear vs tinted in appearance settings. I thought liquid glass makes your icons semi transparent, did I misunderstand?
Icons are changed in Appearance under Theme, not with the Liquid Glass clear/tinted picker. Don't bother doing it, either - some apps still don't support it.
Wtf does the clear/tinted selection do under Liquid Glass? I see absolutely no difference other than on the back and forward buttons in finder and the settings app lmao. It's cool adding a dark theme to my icons though under icons and widgets settings
My wife got the 17 and gave me her old pro. Oh my god pro motion is glorious coming from the 12. Also I was pretty fed up with the ultra battery and picked up a garmin fenix solar 7. I absolutely HATED the UI. Ended up getting one of the apps that interprets the Apple Watch data like a garmin and I had a renewed appreciation for the ultra as a product. Charging the battery every day and a half is a drag and I’m a little annoyed some of the health stats and run coaching aren’t included but no one does the ease of use, ui like apple.
Digital passport feature was just enabled. Worked for me - took 2-3 minutes after submitting for verification.
Not sure if anyone else uses Mac betas but man, I cannot type a damn thing in the text field here in the latest beta. I’ll need to see if this is specific to one safari profile or extension or possibly something else.
So I'm finally going to upgrade to a Mac Mini, the question is do I wait for an M5? Or just pull the trigger on the M4? My main "power use" is recording in logic, if that matters.
Can I just say how bizarre it is that MacOS lets us apply a dark theme to icons but they didn't update folder icons? Very annoying for someone who keeps the applications and downloads folders in his dock. Just make them grey, dammit!
