People were surprised that they didn't do this with the Note 6. The new LG V20 that comes out didn't ditch the AUX port either. The only other major manufacturer that did is Motorola.

HTC is making the new Google phone and it has the AUX as well.

getting rid of the headphone jack is kinda taking a step back in my opinion. I get they want to go wireless but you can never beat an end to end connection when it comes to audio. #oldman . I just wonder why they chose to get rid of it. They didn't even make the phone thinner. now most people are going to have to use an adapter to use their wired headphones if they don't want to use the lighting ones.

I say bring back the 6.35 beast that you'd find in home stereo systems.

This is what the majority of people do not understand. While I agree, the ease of access in wireless is better, audiophiles and even people who can notice some degredation will be unhappy with wireless headphones. I will take my AKGs and amplifier any day.

why would there be, the tech bloggers dont use samsung and the kind of people in the general public who get upset over this stuff are iphone users anyway

plus apple is seen as the harbinger of change on this stuff by some people anyway, if apple does it as the industry leader it makes sense other companies will follow

Do you use a case? They said that the Jet Black could show scratches or wear more easily than the others, and recommended using a case with that one if that was concerning to you. Think I'm going with the matte black, since I use cases on and off.

I'm curious about this also. It's a metal body just like the 6s, but what is the glossy coating? All other phones that have had "paint" covering the all metal body eventually scrapes off so I'm curious.

  14. Because most people don't actually care about the best audio quality. Convenience usually wins. Even if it's "worse" in some way.

what if the lightning headphones sound like piss? will there be other headphone makers that will make headphones with lightning ports?

I'm saying this because apple headphones usually sound like ass.

yeah for sure. I guess I'll have to try the wireless ones to see if they're actually more convenient than plugging in your headphones and listening.

If there is any sort of 2 step process you gotta do to connect them like you do with a blue tooth speaker than i wouldn't call that more convenient.

awesome, for how often I use headphones with my phone these will work fine

  19. Open the headphone case near the iPhone is apparently "the process."

And if you're walking around, yeah, not having a wire connected to your pocket is pretty awesome.

Get a better stereo that will support USB then? No one told you to buy a new car.

  21. Then you plug in your other headphones to the adapter and leave it on there.
    Yes, there already are.

Here are some lightning headphones being used on an iPhone 6s, then compared to using the standard AUX port.

    Start around 2:45.
