My phone says it’s out for delivery, but it won’t be here until Monday. Pre-order was in like 2 minutes after launch, but it’s always said the 19th for me

 

I figured it out. Go to the shortcuts app and go to Automation. You can create one there.

 

The main shortcut I use is one I set up to set my lights to different brightness levels. The Hue App is better/more reliable generally, but the shortcut is nice when I just want one of those settings.

I also made one to pull a random photo from an album full of recipes and add it to my shopping list. I called it "Recipe Roulette" and need to use it more regularly.

If I can ever move out of this apartment into a house, I'm definitely going to set up some smart home/automation stuff. I bought a bunch of NFC tags last year, and the only one I've used so far just plays Brave Faces Everyone when I tap it. Looking forward to doing more involved things when I have more control over my space.

 

I was going through the upgrade process for my phone and noted that my unlimited plan gets me 50% off a plan for a watch. I can get the new SE for only the $5 monthly service fee, no actual cost for the watch, if I trade in my S4.

Think I will go for it so I have the service when I'm out on a run.

 

Yep, similar deal as the one I'm looking at with the 8. My own line doesn't have the watch discount, but another line on my account does, which grants it for the whole account.

They also have three separate promos - $180 for watch trade-in, $250 off the second watch when you buy two, and $150 off any watch with code SMARTWATCH150. It says none of these stack, but I had two watches in my cart, and it definitely was stacking to some extent. I was able to get the cost of one S8 down to $2.70/month, and the other to $4.80. I'm not sure what their math is on it, but it's definitely a great deal.

When I pull the trigger, I definitely plan on screen-shotting everything just in case they try any trickery later.

 

Hmm, I only need the 1 watch, but may try the S8 and stacking that promo code with the trade in and see what happens before I check out.

EDIT: Just tried it and the promo code isn't stacking, plus the S8 is on backorder until November so I will just go with the SE2.

 

not upgrading this year but I really hope we get another mini at some point. I looooove my 13 mini and hate using my partner's 13 Pro soooo fingers crossed we get another mini at some point. Even if it turns into the new SE, I'll take it.

 

I still have an Iphone 11 Pro Max. Gonna hold onto this thing for as long as possible cause I just paid off the phone like 2 months ago.

 

It's possible they got it worked out, which would be a bummer. I'll have to check again. It definitely says the promos shouldn't stack.

 

Stoked, both my phones show up tomorrow. Will be returning one obviously haha. I set up an automationto automatically put my phone in low power mode when it hits 50%

 

That's my guess, the mini form factor becomes the new SE.

Is MagSafe charging worth buying the extra cables? I already have a wireless dock I use overnight and a USB-C to lightning at my computer if I need it during the day.

 

No. I would only get MagSafe docks or those that have their own power cable and not a MagSafe cable that plugs into a charging block. The belkin 3-in-1 station is the perfect bedside stand and office desk dock

Alright, ordered a 14 Pro in black (my wife is switching from Android so I agreed she could have the purple), a Watch SE2, a nice case, and a MagSafe charging dock.

 

Which charging dock did you get?

 

From the same place I got the case. I've had their wireless charging dock, with Apple Watch charger, for years and I love it. Clean, low profile and works perfectly.
