is this the place to talk about apple carplay - how is it? it needs to be wired in most vehicles? im looking at hyundai and toyotas.

 

It’s great / depends on the trim level of your vehicle. But CarPlay does support wireless.

 

I believe most cars come standard with it. I have 2020 Hyundai Tucson and it already had in the infotainment screen. All it is, is plug and play with a lightning cable. Some higher end models have wireless car play as well

 

weirdly enough it seems that even the platinumed out toyota and hyundai suvs have the non wireless apple car play

 

feel like having it wired in is more reliable anyways

I can't wait to get reckless with this. I don't even carry a debit card with me anymore; I just Apple Pay everywhere I go. I just carry my ID in the back of a Bullstrap portfolio case for my Mini.

 

I love my Apple CarPlay (2018 Honda Odyssey). Great for road trips to have navigation, music, podcasts, texts, phone, etc. easily accessible. I would like to have the wireless option for shorter trips since CarPlay is more reliable than Bluetooth, but the wired option keeps my phone charged on long trips.

 

I wish there were a CarPlay mode my phone could go in when I get in the car. I might just set up a "driving" focus profile for something KINDA like this, come to think of it! Will report back!

 

I'm sure I could find a cheaper alternative to the Apple mag safe battery pack but fuck it, I know the Apple one will just work all the times I need it to

Does anyone else find that Apple Maps doesn't really work if your phone is upside down? It's the primary thing that's frustrating about using CarPlay for me. There's not really a good way for me to set my phone down with the cable attached.

 

yeah its extremely silly but i dont use carplay when im only going on short drives, plugging/unplugging the phone every time i get in and out can get annoying if im making multiple stops.

 

Casually got a 2020 iPad Air and Pencil today while packing for our vacation next week! It's for the kids, but im very excited to play with them tonight. VERY excited!

My iPhone 11 dropped out of my pocket yesterday. That alone sucks but living in Argentina makes it worse because I can't just get another one without paying an extra couple hundred USD the regular market price.

Anyway - I think I'll get the iPhone 12 - any thoughts or comments on whether the 12 Pro or Pro Max are that much worth the extra hundred dollars?
