Got a HomePod Mini and I've just come to say that so far I'm loving it. The sound quality is great, it fits in nicely with my established HomeKit and it looks way better than the Echo Dot it replaced.

 

Airpod gang, i get you now. These things are unreal.

 

I always thought that the Amazon and Google products you put in your home kinda look ... tasteless?

but then maybe I’m just an insufferable Apple shill LOL

 

I have two little echo dots and they don't look bad they just kinda hid in the background.

 

I just don't like their choice of fabric or materials. or shapes. but yeah I mean if you're going to hide them it doesn't matter ;)

 

My M1 MBA was delivered today (typing from it).

Apple showed a scheduled delivery date of Dec 22 so I couldn't believe it when I opened the package.

 

I got mine a couple days ago with an estimated 18th delivery. i was very happy. so far so good! I actually got Avid Media Composer to launch on it but only as the free version. Photoshop beta is too buggy and the intel one works great. My post supervisor said there's been issues with people wiping their systems and setting up as new. Since this is a present for my wife that's exactly what I intended to do after doing some fun tests like this. I'll look into that whole thing and report back if I have any issues. Might just delete my user and make her a new one come Christmas morning. I wish there were a way to get it all set up for her without pinging her phone a billion times as I log in her accounts.

 

They are. I feel like though on mine, the transparency mode is ok, but not amazing. I wish there was a way to turn up the strength of it so I could hear the people around me better. (music or podcasts still at low volume)

 

is there a way to put a message on the home screen when the phone is on silent mode? I keep accidentally flipping it to silent mode through the switch on the phone and then not noticing until I see I missed a phonecall

 

Okay this is driving me nuts. Some songs when I add them to Apple Music show up under the iTunes application as under a different album (albums that are unavailable for streaming to boot). The song is playable if I play from the Apple Music page for that album but not if I try from iTunes where it shows up as the different album. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this or experienced this before? I've deleted the track and added it back but does the exact same thing. I just wanna shut the goddamn door.

 

Wondering if when it collects what song it is in your library, it's recognizing the song and fixing the metadata for you but the metadata on the file is probably that song with "Various Artists" as the album artist, from the album "New Music Now 2.21.06"

Track down the file and see what it's showing before you add it to AM/iTunes.

Thanks I'll attempt that now. Been on the phone with Apple Support for almost an hour and a half and they're clueless.

 

@anotherpancake So before I add it it shows up as part of AFYCSO but once I add it the metadata changes.

 

I gave up and just grabbed an mp3 of I Write Sins from the high seas. Added it to iCloud Library where it matched up with the file and is playable. After getting transferred 6 times and waiting 2 hours, I feel justified. I'm sorry Brendan Urie.

From what I can tell it seemed to be trying to add Canadian versions of these songs to my library despite adding them from the USA. A Simple Plan song helped me figure that one out.

Weird, I use chrome on my 6 year old Macbook and it still runs lightning fast other than when it's at like 5 percent battery haha. I'll have to try uninstalling and see if I notice anything

 

Wow I never knew people thought Chrome was bad...

 

I don't like it much. Used it only for work, but ditched it for Safari.

 

So glad I convinced my job to get me a new computer so I can uninstall chrome from my personal computer.

 

We don’t *think* chrome is bad, it’s factually close to malware. Chrome is objectively bad.

Does anybody here have an opinion for Things 3 vs Todoist? I'm a suuuuper light todo list user and I bought Things ages ago and never really used it/would be using the free version of Todoist. I currently use Todoist very lightly and love the natural language input, but I don't think if that even really exists within Things?
If anybody has an opinion for one over the other or has any input, I'd love to hear!

One thing I do like is easy to handle recurring tasks, but like I said I'm a very light user as it is.
