AirPods Max Delivery Estimates Already Slipping Into 2021, Sky Blue Color Now Shipping in 12-14 Weeks

 

had my left AirPod replaced again yesterday. Big Sur was telling me my left pod was 11% charged compared to 65% on my right. Only using them together so took them in. The guy couldn't find anything wrong but replaced it anyway. Agreed with me that it could be a Big Sur issue not displaying correct battery info

Anyone else experienced this?

 

The price is not great, I'll stick with my Sennheisers, they do a better job at switching between devices than the airpods pro (which I love) do anyway.

 

If you have it set up with your Health app, it'll alert you if you listen too loud for too long.. But I think that's about it.

 

$550 for non audiophile quality (and quite frankly even if they were audiophile quality) is pathetic even with Apple tax.

 

I'm not totally against the design and think the pink look pretty sweet.

 

People deriding Apple products before anyone has had a chance to try them - tale as old as time

 

I know they'll probably sound pretty solid and I am on board with the design, but I can't justify that price tag when I'm saving for the M1 MacBook Air.

I'm sure these will be very nice but I just can't do it. I've been waiting to see what these were like before upgrading my old ass wired Bose ones. Just pulled the trigger on the Sony XM4's for 275. I just can't justify spending literally twice as much when everyone says the XM4's are a great pair of headphones.

 

i'm probably on my fourth set of airpods now, have had them exchanged out for free multiple times. the last pair started showing a similar battery issue, but that wasn't the motivating reason for bringing them in. unfortunately, every single pair i've had has, over time, developed issues with the noise cancelling and seal in my ears.

no matter what, apple has always been really easy to swap out airpods.

 

I'm sure they will be nice and not crap. I'm totally up for paying Apple prices on occasion - I am locked into iPhone and MBP and there is almost nothing that would switch me away. But no matter how you slice it, I have a hard time not calling these humorously overpriced. If wireless is the draw you're up $200 on the competition. If great sound is the draw you're up $3-400 over wired headphones without limitations on lossless audio. They make a lot of fantastic products but some lean harder toward status and fashion symbols than others, and I've got no problem calling that what it is.

 

these look insanely cool. i'll just constantly put them on my gift lists for my wife just in case she gets a bonus or something. I can't just buy this all willy nilly

 

i just found a pair of beats solo 3s in my office this afternoon that never were claimed by students a year and a half ago. at this point, i think it's safe to claim them. why spend 550 when i can raid the lost and found?

the HomePod is the prime example. Costs, what, 300 bucks and audiophiles were struggling to come close to the quality with 1000+ dollar sets.

i never understood the homepod hate because everyone who was bitching about the price was comparing it to like, the alexa echo speaker and listening to music on that thing is, just not an activity i'm interested in partaking in. homepod rules and i believe a homepod mini is going to be under a christmas tree for me this year and i cannot wait.

 

I gifted my HomePod to my mom and sometimes their conversations can get a little ... heated ;)

the HomePod is a comparatively dumb but almost audiophile-grade speaker. The Alexa is a smart air horn.

 

at the time, the hardware homepod was being compared to were significantly less expensive but also had significantly less audio quality, so it made the price point for homepod seem more justifiable. i've got folks who have all different alexas, echos, google homes, sonos systems, and the only thing that sounds close to or better than homepod is sonos by a mile.

it was just like "LOL apple you can buy an alexa for $89.00" and i was like yeah but when the volume is passed like 6 it gets fuzzy so..

 

Then I think Apple needs better marketing because the average consumer is going to look at the two as competing products
