Targeting independent developers is an appropriate response to Apple’s behavior? Maybe I’m just misunderstanding what happened or what you mean.

 

I use both services very frequently and I know both have their issues, what specifically did Apple do to Spotify though?

Put out a competitive product, while also taking 30% from competing services that offered subscription sign-up through their App Store. I know, I know, a lot of folks would claim they created the ecosystem/App Store where Spotify is privileged to live, but on some level that’s double-dipping, and the 30% cut is undeniably high.

 

30% is the normal cut basically everyone takes, stores, etc.

 

And for subscriptions it’s 15% after the first year.

 

And it’s not that people would claim they created the ecosystem while others just use it to exist, it’s that they DID create the ecosystem and Spotify just uses it to exist lol.

This is a tiny difference, but interesting. Guessing this is an effect tied to the smaller size of the iPhone 12 Mini, which is the only thing I care about for tomorrow. I'm all-in on getting that device in my life whenever that may be.

 

It'll be really cool if/when Apple can utilize under-display sensors for face unlock like some phones are already starting to do with selfie cameras. Even if you can sort of tell the small circles where the sensors are on the display, I still think that's a way better experience than a huge notch

 

I would like them throw the Touch ID power button from the new iPad Air into the iPhone and call it a day. I'm hoping we get that surprise tomorrow, but I doubt it.

 

They’ll never do that with the phones - mainly cuz people put cases over their phones

 

Other phones do it and case manufacturers just provide a cutout for it

 

Going to be ordering a 12 when I can. Unsure if I’ll go for the Pro or the base version.
