Probably going to install Big Sur tonight. I don't depend on my laptop for important things nearly as much as I used to, so I should be able to deal with whatever ends up breaking. I'm a little worried Logic will have issues, and I do use that a decent amount, but I'm too curious to see the new look in action (even though I'm still not totally sold on those iOS-style icons).

 

I can’t wait for 3rd party widgets to be a thing.

 

It bums me out so much how ugly this chorus shortcut is compared to a regular ol safari bookmark.

 

Can you not give them icons?

 

I don’t see a way too. You can when you save a shortcut to a home screen, but not through the shortcuts widget.

Thinking of getting the Apple Watch 6 when it comes out, is there a good breakdown of what features need a cellular plan to work? Struggling on whether I'd go with Cellular+GPS or just GPS.

 

what would you use cellular for? I have it and i rarely use it. I'd get GPS if you're not sure.

 

Honestly, no clue. I'm just trying to figure out what stuff you can do with the cellular that you can't with the GPS. Don't want that FOMO

 

What's the big new solid rumor? I can't find much to get excited about.

 

unless you are always without your phone for work or whatever other reason (aren't we all WAH?), then go without Cellular. My series 3 with Cellular is still going strong but I never use the Cellular and pay more a month.

 

5G is what I’m most excited about, but I also like the flat edge design much better.

I think I will end up going with just the GPS when the new model releases.

 

Ok, I haven’t had too much time with it yet but I’m not loving Big Sur. My screen feels more cramped, so much so that I actually checked to make sure the display scaling hadn't changed (it didn’t). Probably gonna roll it back in the next couple days unless it really grows on me.

 

So if the rumors are true, I think I may go with the 5.4 inch this year. As someone that has a Macbook, iPad, Mac Mini, etc. and doesn't do much work on my phone, the idea of having a smaller one that fits into my pocket better is VERY appealing. Is there any reason I shouldn't?

 

hmm ... I haven't played around with the betas yet, but if this is true and works how it seems it does, and on by default, I'll pull this site out of Apple News.

Absolutely absurd to me that Apple/Google requires 30% payment from in-app purchases

I don't give a damn about Fortnite but it is cool they're using their economic power and cultural caché to challenge this.
