How you liking the new Air?

 

I fucking love it - it's the perfect computer - nothing comes close to it

 

How did you spec it out?

I'm gonna get one soonish, just trying to decide between the i5 and i7, with 16GB RAM either way.

 

I just usually get the base model because all I do is write and listen to music.

 

It would look even better with a supporter account that removes ads and the ad blocker message. Costs way less than the $299 keyboard too. And then I also can get one.

 

Another thing, at least that I’ve found in my use with this keyboard is, the backlight times out after 30 seconds of being idle, so I can’t understand why Dieter Bohn is complaining about the backlight settings being hard to get to (and turn off) when you want to watch media content. Tested it with video as well, and after 30 seconds they turn off.

Same here! I pre-ordered the SE last Friday and it’s supposed to arrive this Friday but the tracking still hasn’t updated to ‘shipped’ yet.

 

Apple doesn't typically send out 'shipped' notifications on pre-order iPhones until the night before delivery. You could always use UPS to track by reference using the phone number tied to the account for the order, or create a 'My Choice' account through them and track it that way. It's very likely been shipped, just in route from China at the moment.

I owned the original SE for a period of time when it came out, and it was an amazing device at the time. I wouldn’t expect this one to be any different. I’s all about having that A13 chip for longevity.

Haha, I was just playing around cause I can see the "ad blocked!" thing in the photo at the top. And cause I want this damn keyboard cause it's exactly what I want my iPad to be: a tablet when I want a tablet, and as good a keyboard/laptop when I want that. And I want to be able to switch between the two easily and have a great writing experience. All the reviews have me leaning toward thinking it's exactly what I have been looking for. Sit on the couch and browse/read and then watch baseball games and/or actually do some long-form writing on it as well.

 

Well, it’s not going to be any better when I tell you that it’s like, exactly that.

 

Decided to buy a refurbished iPad Air (the 2019 model) and the 1st gen Apple Pencil. While the $329 iPad was a nice price point, I figured the A12 chip would be better in the long run. The only iPad I've had is the Air 2 that I bought in 2015 so I'm not upgrading too often. That one still works fine, so I'm going to give it to my mom this way she can stop using her not-so-great Samsung tablet.

 

Was just looking at these exact two options for Hannah's parents. They want a Zoom "prayer" machine. And I'm trying to convince them to go refurb for the better FaceTime camera if that's what they want.

 

Yeah they have quite a few options for that model in the refurb section. Turning my iPad in would’ve given me an $80 credit which is how much they had taken off of the refurb ones so I figured it’s a win-win since my mom mostly just checks emails and browses the internet. So I’m paying the same and she gets to use my old one. Granted it’s not brand new but there’s also a chance it’s one someone opened and returned so I’m not worried about it really.

 

Just found out I’m suppose to WFH until the end of August. I use an iMac as my primary personal computer. The MacBook Air just got a lot more compelling since I’m now expecting to spend long periods of time away from home this summer.

 

Ok, so Comcast is down in my entire building. Anyone know if there's any possible way to get video to play from her iPhone to an Apple TV or Roku without internet? I don't have unlimited data on my Android phone so idk what I'm doing haha.

 

Unless I’m mistaken, if you’re AirPlaying a video from your phone to your AppleTV it’s over your local network and not WiFi so you should be good

 

Thanks! Darn looks like Hulu blocks video from playing airplay with no wifi, but we learned that Sprint gave customers 20GB mobile hotspot data for free because of COVID-19 so we tethered to that and are back up and running

 

So on my iMac... latest version catalina and music app. Anytime I try to access the Get Info for a song the app crashes and I have to force quit. I have no idea what is causing it. Have googled and cannot find any answers at all. Doesn't matter what song or what view I'm using or anything. It's extremely frustrating. I keep all of my music on my local drive and do not use apple music streaming or any other service. Trying to delete a few songs and anytime I click delete it just crashes. Anyone had this issue?

 

Ordered the Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro as a birthday gift to myself.

Need to finally figure out how best to offload my 10.5-inch iPad Pro, never used it much and definitely haven't used since I got the newer iPad Pro.

 

Magic Keyboard arrived today! I have the 11 inch iPad Pro, so it is a little cramped when compared to a full-size keyboard, but I am sure I will get used to it.

The keyboard itself is amazing, way better than the ones on the Surface Pro (I guess the Go would probably be the closer one). The trackpad is great as well, and the click feels pretty similar to the ones on the MacBooks. Total game changer for the iPad Pro.
