Anyone picking up the iPhone 7? I was up until the realization that it isn't going to be a true redesign from the 6s...which I currently own.

As a long time Google fanboy, I must admit that there is something about the iPhone that just...works...if that makes sense. Yea, Android is powerful and Samsung makes top notch phones, but using these two platforms side by side, iOS takes the cake as of right now.

Come the fall, however, I'll be picking up the next Google Nexus device.

 

When I did tech support for them, the only way they told us to fix that was backing up and restoring.

 

I don't understand why people care about "redesigns." Especially enough to buy a inferior product because it looks like the old version. No one buys a Toyota because the 911 still looks like a 911.

 

Currently stuck in a predicament of wanting 3 different things lol.

I somewhat need a new laptop (not awfully bad, have a 13" MBP, battery is awful now and getting tired of having non Retina display. Probably could just get a new battery and upgrade ram but laziness lol.)

Want to have a new MBP but was going to wait but don't want to really wait until Q4 for new ones.

Also could just get a Mac mini and get a pretty good rig for my needs but not be portable

But also want a retina MacBook but don't know if it would last me as long

and lastly total impulse would be to buy a iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard but that's at the very bottom lol

 

I'd wait for the MBP refresh that should be coming soon.

 

Soon meaning Q4? Asking because I'm starting grad school in the fall and really wanting to upgrade before then.

 

Yeah, we should see that refresh soon ... maybe WWDC, but definitely by fall.

 

Forgot we were talking fiscal year - oops. That helps though.

 

Is anyone else inexplicably no longer able to convert songs to different formats in iTunes? That shit just disappeared for me. In a sea of AAC files, I've now got one album in MP3 and rather than respect its individuality, I long to break its will and make it conform.

 

So for whatever reason my iPhone always thinks headphones are plugged in. Anyone ever have this issue and fixed it? I like the ability to just remove the headphone jack and it just pauses whatever I'm listening to.

A little background is about 12 hours ago it slightly submerged as it feel into he toilet for about a second or two before I grabbed it. Everything else works fine.

 

I REALLY want to be able to pin three albums where the most recent three albums appear when you are looking at my music. I know it's a weird request but I like having the albums up there for quick access. it won't happen, but it's on my wish list.

 

It's just buried in menus now. Highlight the song, then go to File -> Create New Version.

 

Ya, that's what it's looking like for me...not sure if it's notorious with the 16GB or not, but a lot of online forums seem to point that way.

 

I'd almost certainly think that water getting into the headphone jack is what's causing the problem. I have never heard of that until now.

I've had this issue on several devices, it's almost always just some kind of dirt or something in the headphone jack shorting out the contacts and making the phone think you have headphones plugged in.

 

For those that care I took it to a place that replaced the dock (headphone+lightning port) and it works again. Also my lighting port isn't loose anymore. I was also having issues of charging cables falling out.

 

I've noticed the past few albums that I've pre-ordered from iTunes, once the full album releases, it downloads duplicates of the singles I have already downloaded. Never had a problem with this before, so weird that somethings changed with that.

 

I would pay literally $100 for an email client that doesn't suck and has good support. Why has no one figured this out yet?

Currently nothing because Mail Pilot support is shit and won't respond to my emails asking them to recover my license key after I reinstalled OSX. Also their bullshit app was crashy as hell so I'm not terribly sorry about the loss but I am annoyed they won't even answer me. I have tried

Airmail 2 (have not tried 3 yet because no free trial and I don't feel like paying $10 to try it out)
Sparrow (RIP again)
MS Outlook

A unified inbox is a must, some kind of "delay" for emails I don't want to deal with right this minute but want to be reminded of is a high priority, needs to work with Gmail, Google Apps for Work (usually if it supports Gmail it will support this too but there are exceptions) and MS Exchange/Outlook.com. Also preferably has clients for Android as well, but if it's OSX only I can deal. Inbox on Android has a unified inbox feature so that usually does good enough. Hell, if they had a desktop client with unified inbox + Outlook.com support that'd be good enough.

 

Airmail has a beta option for Mac. Not ideal, but it's free if you're wanting to try out Airmail 3. I was able to get a free mac app code in their slack for beta users so that's what I've been using.

I've also tested out Polymail but they were having more bugs than Airmail at the time and don't have a 1.0 Mac release for the app store yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what Spark comes up with for Mac. I think they've been one of the more solid email apps on iOS.

 

Thinking about taking advantage of the Apple Watch stainless steel price cut @ Best Buy today. Anyone have any thoughts on them?

 

I just got mine two days ago. So far, I love it.
