Agreed, it's way more than that. It's being able to dim lights for different occasions, having my lights flash 15 minutes before I need to leave for work in the morning as a warning, having all your lights turn off automatically when you leave the house, etc etc. I love my Hue lights and I think they were worth the money.

 

The lights turning on when Hannah comes home alone is worth every penny for her safety and piece of mind.

And that's only 1/10th of the convenience voice activated/smart lights have brought to my life, but if that was all ... it would still have been worth it.

I’ll never understand judgmental comments on what people spend their money on. Unless they are spending your money, who cares!

We’ve just about finalised buying our first duplex flat and Hue Lights are on my “to buy” list for sure.

The money will be worth it alone to end the “who’s turning the light off” at night/in bed arguments. (Spoiler: it’s always me)

 

having a smart home is not only fucking awesome and cool it's also incredibly safer and more secure.

its always me too and im always so comfortable when im forcibly removed from my cocoon to flip a dang switch

 

What makes it worse is the fact I’m always ready to sleep the second I’m in bed. My wife is the one that takes make up off, does nails, moisturises etc etc and needs the light on. Sigh.

 

Lutron’s smart switches/lights have extra remotes with them, I stuck one on the back of my bed frame. Fuck getting out of bed.

 

Why ya'll getting into bed with the lights turned on?! That is madness!

Being able to ask Alexa to turn on my "Gameboy Color" lights so I can play Pokemon while my gf sleeps has been so great.

I honestly want to do so much smart home stuff but i rent so i can only do so much

 

thats my situation. i don't think i'd be allowed to modify any of the switches in our apartment. our neighbors had an electronic doorbell outside their apartment though (our doors only have knockers......giggity...) so i guess they're lenient to an extent with that stuff.

 

anyone have to replace cracked X glass yet? I have a crack in the back of my X which is not big deal because i usually have a case on (the one time i didnt go figure right) but i usually like to get that stuff repaired relatively quickly before they get worse over time. whats the cost looking like for the X?

Yeah the front glass can be replaced, but if the back breaks (probably because of the coils for the wireless charging?) it's a full device replacement, so $549. Unless you have Apple Care+ which it will be an incident costing you $99
