Have you tried the diagonal trick? Works every time for me. Go from the center at an angle to the right. Like you’re making an angle to the side.

 

Nice, this seems to work. How high up on the right do you go? Half way? Less than that, quarter the way up from the bottom?

 

Very little. Like when the keyboard is open I am almost getting to the delete key before it goes to multitasking.

 

I think my battery life is right on par with my 7 Plus, which is all I really wanted.

 

I’m at least 2, maybe more, hours than my 6S.

 

Have you tried the fast charging feature yet?

 

I have with an 18W adapter, and it's very very fast.

 

Awesome. I don't have an adapter yet for it, but am looking forward to checking it out.

my saddle brown case arrived today. holy fuck the x is small. I'm coming from a plus, I knew it was smaller but I knew I wouldn't realise how small until I held something in my hand.

I have to be to work by 5:00 PM and it’s currently 3:30 PM here, so I’m just deciding if I should just wait until I’m done with work.

 

haha yeah I got saddle brown because some people posted pics of the patina and i was like DAMN that's nice. I hated how it looked on the apple website but said feck it I can return it anyway. I actually don't hate how it looks new in person.

 

Just do it over cellular haha

 

I’ve just read some horror stories of the phone taking a long time to activate with cellular.

 

that's only a thing around big launches. don't sweat it.

 

Trump’s Tax Reform Could Benefit Apple, Other Multinationals

The “framework” for tax reform proposed by the White House and Congressional Republican leadership would remove the incentive to keep foreign profits growing into offshore mountains of cash. First, it would lower the U.S. levy to a far more competitive 20%. Second, it advocates a “deemed” repatriation of all accumulated foreign earnings, to be taxed at at less than the official 20%. All foreign earnings would be taxed each year in the nation in which they’re earned, mirroring the “territorial” systems deployed by most industrial nations. The U.S. would apply a lower, but unspecified, minimum tax on all foreign earnings to protect the tax base, and discourage companies from moving operations to tax shelter nations. Multinationals would no longer be able to defer or avoid U.S. taxes by leaving profits overseas.

Surprisingly, companies such as Apple with an extremely large proportion of foreign sales, could actually pay more U.S. taxes in cash each year under the current proposals. That’s because elimination of deferrals and the exception for reinvested earnings would sent more money to the Treasury even at the far lower minimum rate.

Our tax system is messed up and complicated, but this helped me understand it all a little better. Companies like Apple don't need tax cuts.

 

Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon Morning Show Drama Lands at Apple With 2-Season Order

Following a multiple-outlet bidding war, Apple has emerged as the victor for a morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

The tech giant has picked up the untitled drama with a straight-to-series, two-season order (20 episodes total). Aniston (Friends) and Witherspoon (Big Little Lies) will star, exec produce and co-own the show alongside Michael Ellenberg's Media Res company, which will produce the show for Apple. Sources describe the price tag on the show as comparable to other premium fare with big stars attached. As for how racy it will be, that's still to be determined as there are no scripts for the drama yet

 

So is that Apple’s first original content show?

Still getting used to control center being accessed from the top right. I keep swiping from the bottom.

 

Yeah I think that's the toughest one to get used to as it completely changed side. Home button was at the bottom and still is, Notification Center was at the top and still is, app switcher was at the bottom and still is. Control Center went from bottom to top. I think I'm starting to get used to it though.

 

So Apple says don't put a black bar at the top to hide the notch, but how about the now playing screen in Music... Hmmmm...

 

that's not a black bar, the space is used to indicate depth and is a visual affordance so you know you can swipe the card down.
