Doesn't Apple Music replace any of your uploaded files with 256kbps versions anyways?

  2. In the Music app, pretty sure if it's matched it does. I've never tried to figure out what it does with my own files. I don't know if it's transcoding when I download or stream, but I'd assume it does.

the way it used to be is, you would have to take down your iCloud music library and then add the albums you wanted to have in lossless, and then turn icloud music library and instead of replace you would click merge. Of course it's not a big deal I just would like to listen to stuff in the highest quality possible if I have it.

  4. But with the iPhone's DAC, it's kinda pointless. The Music.app won't play FLAC, iOS 11's File's app will. Music.app can play ALAC.

Applelossless is what I'm trying to put on it.. I really don't feel like turning off my icloud library though I ahve a ton of music available offline and its just not worth it.

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

I have a good chunk of my music on my iPhone as ALAC, but I know that I’m lacking a few necessary steps to truly take advantage of the lossless nature of the files.

I should probably just give up and stream, I’m just stubborn.

I can hear the difference on my really good headphones and thats just about it.. its more of like if I have the highest quality I want to use it even if I don't really notice it.

It's all psychological at that point

Random, but sorta related - I remember when 'The Walk' by Hanson (good band btw) came out, I came across a supposed super hi-res CD version of it. I swear that's the best sounding CD I'll ever listen to. I think it was called an XRCD. Could have all been psychological though.

  11. Wasn't merging with iCloud Library eating peoples pre-existing libraries when Apple Music first came out? I just clicked Merge and now it's doing its thing, so hopefully it doesn't do that anymore..

Even after updating to 11.0.3, hours on the phone with customer service, and 2 factory restores I have more bugs than I’ve ever had on any previous iOS combined, including beta versions.

  13. What’s it doing?

  14. lol. Oh?

This all occurs on my iphone 6s plus:

My lock screen is empty about 75% of the time I try to open my phone. It has my background picture but nothing else. It won't unlock so I have to restart it about 25% of the time when that happens.

It will turn on do not disturb while driving randomly. I could be sitting down and it will turn it’s self on.

At certain points it stops notifying me of text messages. They’ll come through but won’t vibrate/ring or turn on the screen until someone calls.

Messages don’t go to my MacBook anymore. This one is normally an easy fix so it's driving me nuts that I can't figure it out.

When the screen goes idol and I tap to wake it up before it auto-locks the colors become a lot lighter than normal. Dark mode on here looks baby blue when it happens.

Sometimes people I have stored in contacts will show up as numbers and It will start a new thread for every message I receive from them.

And then there are a bunch of cosmetic bugs and choppiness that occurs sporadically.

Normally problems like these are solved by a restore or a patch update but it’s only gotten worse for me this time. :-/

Anyone else having battery issues on 6S Plus? On iOS10, it ran fine all day, but now on 11 it drops so sharply. I can be on the calender app, for example, and it’ll go down by 5-6% in a matter of minutes.

That’s definitely an issue I have now too. 11.0.2 kinda helped but 11.0.3 brought it back down again. I kinda expect that to happen on a phone this old though unfortunately.

  19. Yeah (but since I purchased it this year I don't have to pay until like October '18), and it's all inclusive ... one subscription for all the apps. I've been using it so much lately, love it.

there are still some weird issues of retagging to wrong things and sometimes actually losing the songs from the library if it gets removed from apple music itself (why i haven't had the cosmic drama in too long)

Gotcha. Gonna put it on my “things to buy when I have money again” list. Writing at Hidden Remote typically covers my subs for Netflix and podcast hosting lately but not much else haha.
