That doesn’t sound right ... heh. Weird.

 

Since the iOS update I’ve noticed my Bluetooth appears to always be connected. Is this normal now or any guesses what’s going on?

 

Went and bought an 8 Plus, upgrading from a 6S. Will take some getting used to, but I like it so far.

One weird thing when getting my new phone. During the Quick Start, my phone wanted me to sign into a bunch of emails that apparently have made purchases through my account or something. Called Apple and everything seems secure and the only purchases were mine, so not sure what the fuck that was all about.

 

God, I'm super jealous of all the new camera shots.

 

Just keeping telling yourself “one month one month one month” like I am.

Although with short supply it might turn into three months three months three months and that would be awful.

 

The X will probably be an Airpods situation where there are long delivery delays for a long time.

 

Keep trying to try Overcast for the first time and all it does is freeze when I go to add a podcast.

 

I still think the stock podcast app is better than overcast. I like the refreshed design too.

Has the stock podcast app added playback settings? The trim silence and speed options are the reason I use overcast

 

you can change the speed now. It sounds ridiculous though, I don't know how anyone can listen to the podcast like that...

 

Man "Smart Speed" for Overcast is a game changer, especially for some podcasts where the speaker takes long pauses. Found this little snippet from an article talking about whether "smart speed" really worked:

"It is immediately evident how efficient it is. Hardcore History usually runs between 1.20x and 1.40x. Dan Carlin’s style includes a lot of breaks and pauses which Overcast discards. Overall, I achieved 1.158x saving 12 minutes 48 seconds."

 

Really enjoying overcast so far. Nice and simple.

 

Guys, pocketcasts is still the best podcast app, just sayin’

 

My issue with pocketcasts was their download management system. I didn't like that the podcasts I downloaded didn't go into their own separate little tab. For podcasts with a ton of episodes that I only pick and choose a handful to listen to, I ended up doing a lot of scrolling and hunting for the episodes I did download. I looked through the settings but didn't find a way to change that, unless I missed something?

 

I’m not sure when the last time you used it was, but under the main page in the app there should be a place that says “create episode” filter that lets you make a new filter, that you can just put all downloaded episodes into one spot.

 

Overcast is one of my favorite apps of all time. Saved 161 hours with Smart Speed alone, and the organization structure is perfect for how I listen to audio on the phone. (Plus, being able to add my audiobooks to it is another bonus.)

 

Yeah I see that, I guess that kinda works. Although you'd either have to create a bunch of those episode filters for each podcast or throw them all in one and then scroll to find which episode you want to listen to. I'm being nitpicky here probably but I just prefer the way Overcast handles it. I go to the podcast I want to listen to and each podcast has it's own download folder.

 

My iPhone X procurement strategy:

Order whatever X I can get picked up in store (or at all, shipped or whatever), either color, either memory capacity.

Broaden my chances.

 

Yeah I’m pretty lazy and don’t listen to too many podcasts so I could see how that could be harder if you are trying to manage more than a few

 

Since you're already aware that I listen to podcasts like a madwoman, I just want to let you know I've saved 944 hours with Smart Speed. I'm just going to happily continue to pretend I don't have a podcast problem.
