Anyone with AirPods notice any static or hissing while using them to talk on the phone?

Apple Watch users: Is there a way to increase your step goal above 10,000? That's one of the things holding me back from switching from my Fitbit.

  3. I didn't think there was a step goal for the Activity Tracker. I thought it was Standing for 1 minute 12 times a day, Exercise for 30 minutes a day, and then the Move goal is your calorie goal than you can adjust.

Maybe that's what it was then. The Watch shows your amount of steps, but it isn't considered a part of the goal?

If you're doing intensive work on your computer why would you want a laptop over a desk top anyway? Portability but even then can you really do your best most intensive work on the fly? A MBP would work for getting some basic sketches down in logic but I will always do the bulk of my recording and mixing on a desktop

So I just got a new Apple TV and I've run into an issue that I can't figure out how to fix. I have my Apple TV plugged into the router but whenever I try to use airplay it says it's unable to. I think this has to do because it's not on wifi. Does anyone know any ways to solve this. I'm having trouble finding one.

  8. Do you have a dual-band router? I've ran into issues somtimes with media servers not showing up when I'm on the 5ghz instead of 2.4ghz or vice versa, usually switching from one to the other makes them show up for me. But, I'm not sure if that's exactly the issue you're running in to.

I am. I did try switching from 5 to 2.4 and it still didn't work. Not a huge deal but sort of bums me out. I'm disappointed in my router because even though I bought it it won't let me just do the one network where it pushes you between 2.4 and 5 depending on what's faster because my ISP doesn't allow it.

I'm mostly reading Excel data sheets (with formulas) more than I am creating them so I haven't really noticed any issues with lagging. Excel is definitely the program I have tested the least though out of those I mentioned above.

A vast, boxy customs center acts as a busy island of commerce deep in central China.

Government officers, in sharply pressed uniforms, race around a maze of wooden pallets piled high with boxes — counting, weighing, scanning and approving shipments. Unmarked trucks stretch for more than a mile awaiting the next load headed for Beijing, New York, London and dozens of other destinations.

The state-of-the-art facility was built several years ago to serve a single global exporter: Apple, now the world’s most valuable company and one of China’s largest retailers.

The well-choreographed customs routine is part of a hidden bounty of perks, tax breaks and subsidies in China that supports the world’s biggest iPhone factory, according to confidential government records reviewed by The New York Times, as well as more than 100 interviews with factory workers, logistics handlers, truck drivers, tax specialists and current and former Apple executives. The package of sweeteners and incentives, worth billions of dollars, is central to the production of the iPhone, Apple’s best-selling and most profitable product.
    Really interesting read.

Just wanted to follow up on this, do you have an estimate for how long your battery usually lasts?

Yea I'm not sure if I was just infatuated with it that I didn't notice as much before but the battery is definitely not hitting close to 10 hours. If I need it to just go to class for half the day I think it'll be fine, but if I plan on staying on campus after I'm not sure it'll cut it. Seems to almost be independent of how much I have open, and some days it lasts longer than others. Really hoping some sort of fix comes along, tho idk how much they can really do. It's not awful, like I said it'll make it thru classes, but one of the perks of a new laptop is leaving the charger at home, and that doesn't seem safe for longer days.

    I'll say 6-7. That's prob my average. I usually charge at 20-30% so I haven't tested it's limits.

Glad you like them! I have been using them pretty regularly over the last week and a half, and I'm loving them too.

I've had a 2016 non-touchbar 13" Macbook Pro for about a month and a half now and I think I'll be taking advantage of Apple's extended Holiday return window. I don't know if it's the 8GB of ram of the processor, but this thing isjust really disappointing. Even just regular internet usage gives me the spinning beach ball every couple minutes and complex web apps are straight unusable sometimes. The battery life is, as other have mentioned, unreliable at best. Sometimes it lasts 4 hours, sometimes 8, never 10. Unfotunately the Holiday returns only allow you to get a gift card in the extended return window, so my only real option last years model or trying to throw more money at the problem and get a higher spec'd machine hoping to overpower whatever is causing the performance issues. I wish I still had my 2014 15" pro but I sold it the same week I bought the 2016.

  21. I'm surprised it's having all of those internet issues. That's really weird. Did you end up getting used to the keyboard?

No I still hate it. Accuracy and speed wise it's fine, it's just the actual feel of the keys that drives me insane. But my laptop isn't my primary work machine anymore, I got a full time gig and they provide an iMac, and I use external keyboards whenever possible anyway. Do I hate it but I can live with it.

I love the keyboard haha it's taking me more time to develop the muscle memory than I anticipated but I love the sound of the clicks. Perfect typing sound.

  24. I'm taking your advice and just going to wait another two or so weeks and get the non touchbar 13" after hearing how much better the keyboard is, wanted to edit audio and also since I want this laptop to last a few years. Plus it's barely any bigger than the 12" from when I checked it out in the store. Thanks for the recommendations!
