gizmodo review makes it sound like theyre a giant pain. not being able to adjust volume on them with the buttons on the side of the phone is absurd

    That is ludicrous if true.

Not true. I am using AirPods right now and adjusting volume with the buttons on the side of my phone.

weird! did you adjust the siri settings or something? looks like they just updated the review to reflect something about that.

  7. The review must have been edited:
Being forced to use Siri—or the playback controls on your phone—just to play, pause or adjust the volume is a huge problem.

You're not forced by the way for play/pause - that's an option in the settings. You can make double tap gesture do just that. You can also use an Apple Watch to easily adjust volume as well. I'm not a volume fiddler, and my previous wired headphones didn't have a volume control on them either, so using the phone isn't even a change for me.

Peel cases are legit, right? In terms of protection. I like the design but I'm clumsy as hell, so

  9. They're thin. Very thin. They'll stop scratches more than drops. If you are afraid of drops I'd look at other options. But they're really nice for avoiding scratches on the back/sides. I use one on my iPad when I take it out to a coffee shop or traveling.

No, I didn't have to adjust any settings. The volume controls on the phone just work as they normally do.

weird! that part of the review alone would have been enough for me to write them off entirely until a software update or something. maybe the review model was different. thanks for the insight.

yeah the original copy of the review said explicitly that you couldnt use the physical buttons on the phone for volume adjustment which would drive me nuts because im constantly tinkering with the volume.

  13. Well gizmodo is not the best site for tech reviews haha

i wasn't really a fan. the case seemed to get way more scratched up than i can imagine my phone would have. love their linguini cable charging cords, though.

  17. I have an Outlook email for work. Chrome is my browser of choice, but 2 weeks ago I started having trouble opening Outlook and now it won't even load. I tried on Safari and Outlook opened perfectly fine. Any ideas why it's not working on Chrome?

  18. Gotta say, the AirPods reviews have me interested. They don't seem like the only headphones you'll need if you're a big music person, but they seem like a great addition to a collection of headphones/earbuds.

My AirPods were delivered this afternoon - really impressed with them so far. They fit well, stay in your ears, sound about as good as you would expect - fine for on the go music listening, better for podcasts. The pairing function is really great, took me less than 10 seconds out of the box before I was using them to listen to music. Some seriously impressive tech in these. As I've said before I think they're going to be a game changer obviously for my Siri use but also at the office or on the go where you have to be stopping to talk to people - the one in one out feature and the automatic pausing of the music when you remove the earpiece seems to work really well.

Hmmmm. I just wish they were $100 instead of $150. $150-$200 seems to be in the range when Bluetooth headphone sound quality starts to get noticeably better in a lot of brands...but I'm not hearing that the earpods sound that great for music listening.

A Thunderbolt display can't work a with a laptop that has Dispayport? It appears to be the same connector.

Keep in mind that some Bluetooth headphones like the Bose SoundSport cost this much without a charging case.

Any reservations with em? Do you prefer using Siri for commands or do you find it tedious and use the phone? I think they're really cool and love the pausing but I'm not sold yet on the Siri integration, I was hoping for buttons/tapping ideally.

I have an Apple Watch so the Siri commands for volume and track skipping aren't as much of an annoyance. In fact, I haven't really used them at all tbh. I have a couple of other pairs of headphones without a remote so I'm also used to just using the watch or hitting the volume buttons on my phone when it's in my front pocket. I could see how it would be annoying if you keep your phone in your bag/out of immediate reach though.

Also, I should say for anyone worried about fit/comfort that I have small ears and some trouble with the regular Apple earbuds causing me discomfort after about 30 mins of listening but no such issues with these, they seem to be a little more contoured and hold in your ear better.
