This would be tempting but I still struggle with spending over 1k for an iPad. I would want the larger screen now with how big the UI elements are in iPadOS 26.

 

i have no need for anything other than a base ipad and even then.........not really lol

 

Apple has an incredibly ambitious roadmap for smart glasses and headsets, report claims

“Apple is currently working on three Vision series products and four smart glasses variants. The company reportedly views head-mounted devices as the next major trend in consumer electronics. An upgraded version of the Vision Pro headset with an M5 chip is scheduled to enter mass production in the third quarter of 2025. Apple plans to launch a substantially lighter headset in the third quarter of 2027. An upgraded Vision Pro with a new design, lighter body, and lower price point will not be released until after the second half of 2028.”

 

My wife left her laptop at a hotel this weekend and needed to use the iPad as her computer the last couple of days. lol she hates it so much for some of the deeper marketing work she does, but she did admit its nuts to plug it in to a monitor and let it rip.

I am such an IPad evangelist lmao.

 

Do iPads offer a desktop like experience when plugged into a monitor like Samsung Dex? Or is it just a screen mirror?

 

I really want to trade in my iPad mini 6 and 12.9 iPad Pro 2020 for like a new air or something. I don’t even need these things but the batteries on both won’t hold charges. I took them to Apple and the batteries are at 97 and 98 capacity. But if I turn them off and leave them there for a few hours at 100% they’ll be at like 65% when I turn it back on.

 

Everything with an M Chip has two separate screens, mini and the regular iPad only screen mirror.

Uhh. I somehow pushed something on the Apple Music player on my Mac and now all I see is the album cover and player controls lol how do I see the full apple music app again?

 

Oh, I opened the miniplayer by accident by clicking the album cover. Weird that they make it that easy to open the miniplayer but I have to dig through the Window menu to swap it back...

 

I bought a smart lock and it’s already been very nice to not have to take my keys anywhere and to have the door lock behind me and then unlock as I approach. Such an unnecessary purchase, but I’m happy. I also bought a keypad with it which lets me in with a code or fingerprint so I can still get in if my phone is dead. Install only took 5-10 minutes, as well. (I bought this one, after reading the review: Nuki’s Smart Lock is a better retrofit door lock)

Not Apple related but I don’t care because the other threads in the tech forum are practically dead!

 

Our door isn't a smart lock, but has a timer on to auto lock after 3 minutes and I've been a big fan of that. Nice peace of mind and a code option is nice too to know if you forget a key, you can still get in your house.

Which one did you get?

Got this one. I had been wanting one for a while but as a renter my options seemed limited so I stopped looking and then happened to stumble on this review a few days ago and immediately ordered it.

 

I know I said it months ago but man, this new iPhone Pro is one of the worst designs I’ve seen on an iPhone. I don’t know what they’re thinking if it truly looks like this with that crazy camera on the back.

We got one as well and it’s super convenient! It has the keypad and fingerprint scanner too. Ours is HomeKit compatible so we can have a wallet card on our phones and watches to unlock and run automations on it as well. We can also set guest codes to get in for family and friends visiting and I think I can link it to our video doorbell for automations as well but I have to get a hub first.

I might order one of these to test replacing my August locks. They’re so problematic.

 

They really dialed back the glass in the latest beta.

 

Still very new, but it’s been flawless so far. I was just telling myself last night that I never want to go without a smart lock again, haha. It seems like such a small QoL improvement but not having to fish my keys out while carrying a bag of groceries was pretty great!

 

It really is (as absurd as that statement is). I never take keys anywhere anymore.

 

To the point it doesn't look like Liquid Glass anymore haha.

 

Nope, just an updated iOS 18.

I don’t disagree that there were accessibility concerns but this swing wasn’t the right response.
